30 <strong>The</strong> <strong>Southport</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>International</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong><br />
iii) A <strong>Student</strong> who does not make satisfactory progress as shown in the Schedule of Academic Breaches through<br />
a second term - second warning letter is issued and given to student and parent/guardian. <strong>The</strong> student is<br />
called to another meeting with his Housemaster and the Dean of Studies and their progress and Intervention<br />
Strategy discussed and adjusted if needed. <strong>Student</strong>/parent and guardian also explained they are now at high<br />
risk of being reported should they fail a study period (two consecutive terms).<br />
iv) A <strong>Student</strong> who repeatedly fails to make satisfactory progress as shown in the Schedule of Academic Breaches -<br />
‘Notice of Intention to Report’ is issued and given to student and parent/guardian. <strong>Student</strong>/parent/guardian<br />
to be advised they have 20 workings days in which to access the school’s internal complaints and appeals<br />
process.<br />
<strong>The</strong> <strong>School</strong> will notify DIISRTE via PRISMS of students not achieving satisfactory course progress as soon as<br />
practicable where:<br />
i) the student does not access the complaints and appeals process within 20 days, or<br />
ii)<br />
withdraws from the complaints and appeals process, or<br />
iii) the complaints and appeals process results in favour of the school.<br />
TSS must advise of student breaches (academic progress) even if the student has ceased study.<br />
An Intervention Strategy may be implemented at any time to assist a student to succeed in their studies.<br />
All Intervention Strategies implemented and warning letters will be kept on the student’s file.<br />
If the student’s appeal is successful, TSS does not report the student, but rather supports the student in<br />
accordance with TSS’s course progress policies and procedures.<br />
TSS will notify DIAC of student breaches even if the student has ceased study eg academic progress.
