Data Sharing and the National Fraud Initiative
2012/13 sees Cheshire West and Chester Council once
again involved in the National Fraud Initiative (NFI)
conducted every two years by the Audit Commission.
According to figures provided by The National Fraud
Authority, tenancy fraud alone costs the tax-payer £900
million a year and in this current economic climate
detected cases of fraud and corruption are on the
increase.
Involvement in such initiatives as NFI and conducting
internal data matching is a vital tool in the council’s
fight against fraud and corruption.
Cheshire West and Chester Council is under a legal
duty to protect the public funds it administers, and
to this end may use the information you have
provided to us for prevention and detection of
fraud. The Council may share this information
internally across council services and also with
other bodies responsible for auditing and
administering public funds.
For further information about NFI and the Audit
Commissions’ Code of Practice go to;
For more information about the purposes for
which the Council uses your information
Resident
Involvement...
Cheshire West and Chester Council have always been
committed to involving our residents by providing
opportunities for you to influence the housing
service. The change of management to Plus Dane
from 1st July 2012 means there will be even more
chances for you to become involved.
Your involvement means we can make improvements to
our services using your suggestions. We provide all the
coaching, training, help and support you will need to take
part, including reimbursing you with travel and carers costs.
The ways you can tell us your views won’t change, these
range from completing a survey to being involved in the
inspection of services. Some methods take a few minutes,
others take a little more time, it’s up to you how and
when you would like to become involved.
Look out for some new and exciting resident involvement
activities in the coming months; we hope you’ll join us as
we develop new ways for you to get involved.
We’ll look forward to seeing you.
