Transfer or Visiting Students - continued<br />
It is recommended that students bring a student copy (unofficial<br />
copy) of <strong>the</strong>ir transcript <strong>for</strong> advisor/counselor review while waiting<br />
<strong>for</strong> official transcript <strong>to</strong> be received and evaluated by <strong>Union</strong><br />
<strong>County</strong> College admissions office. It is <strong>the</strong> students responsibility<br />
not <strong>to</strong> register <strong>for</strong> possible transfer credit that may be awarded.<br />
Foreign student transcripts must be translated in<strong>to</strong> English evaluated<br />
by WES or ano<strong>the</strong>r accredited service be<strong>for</strong>e a transfer evaluation<br />
will be processed.<br />
Students entering with a visiting student letter from ano<strong>the</strong>r institution,<br />
which approves students <strong>to</strong> take a specific <strong>course</strong>(s) may be<br />
waived from <strong>the</strong> College Basic Skills Test admissions requirement.<br />
Visiting student <strong>for</strong>ms are available in <strong>the</strong> admissions offices <strong>for</strong><br />
students <strong>to</strong> take <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>ir home institution <strong>to</strong> be completed if necessary.<br />
Visiting students may also satisfy admissions requirements by presenting<br />
a copy of <strong>the</strong> transcript from <strong>the</strong>ir home institution.<br />
Unemployed Workers – Tuition Waiver/Work<strong>for</strong>ce Funded<br />
Unemployed workers may only register on a space available basis<br />
on <strong>the</strong> last day of registration <strong>for</strong> each session, provided <strong>the</strong>y have<br />
applied and completed <strong>the</strong> financial aid process, have a completed<br />
Tuition Waiver from <strong>the</strong> Unemployment Office, and have met all<br />
<strong>Union</strong> <strong>County</strong> College admissions criteria. All o<strong>the</strong>r fees and<br />
expenses must be paid by <strong>the</strong> student (check with Student<br />
Accounts). These students may only register on <strong>the</strong> last day of registration.<br />

Work<strong>for</strong>ce Funded Programs<br />
Students enrolling through Work<strong>for</strong>ce funded programs may register<br />
at <strong>the</strong> start of Registration providing <strong>the</strong>y have met all admissions<br />
criteria and have an approved contract on file with <strong>the</strong> Office<br />
of Student Accounts at <strong>Union</strong> <strong>County</strong> College. All Students must<br />
apply and complete Financial Aid prior <strong>to</strong> registration.<br />
Veterans<br />
<strong>Union</strong> <strong>County</strong> College celebrates <strong>the</strong>ir Veterans and encourages<br />
<strong>the</strong>m <strong>to</strong> enroll under provisions of <strong>the</strong> federal laws, which entitle<br />
veterans <strong>to</strong> educational benefits. Veterans must complete a <strong>Union</strong><br />
<strong>County</strong> College admissions application, pay <strong>the</strong> application fee<br />
and meet all <strong>Union</strong> <strong>County</strong> College requirements.<br />
Application <strong>for</strong> Veteran’s benefits is available on <strong>the</strong> veteran’s website<br />
www.gibill.va.gov. Veterans must meet with an Enrollment<br />
Specialist in <strong>the</strong> Cran<strong>for</strong>d or Elizabeth Admission Office <strong>to</strong> discuss<br />
required documentation.<br />
REGISTRATION INFORMATION<br />
Registration<br />
Registration and Admissions are not <strong>the</strong> same.<br />
Students must register every semester. Application <strong>for</strong> admission is<br />
only required once unless <strong>the</strong> student has a break in <strong>the</strong>ir enrollment.<br />
Registration is available in person on all campuses, through<br />
(www.ucc.edu) on-line e-services <strong>for</strong> eligible students and through<br />
Distance Education by mail or fax. Payment is due at time of registration.<br />
You may enroll in <strong>the</strong> College under one of <strong>the</strong> two categories<br />
explained below;<br />
Matriculant<br />
(Students requiring a program/major)<br />
If you wish <strong>to</strong> enroll <strong>for</strong> <strong>the</strong> purpose of earning a degree or certificate<br />
or <strong>to</strong> be eligible <strong>for</strong> Financial Aid, you must declare a major,<br />
be<strong>for</strong>e you register <strong>for</strong> <strong>course</strong>s. It is <strong>the</strong> student’s responsibility <strong>to</strong><br />
enroll full time if needed. All Admissions Criteria and testing<br />
requirements must be completed prior <strong>to</strong> enrollment.<br />
Non-Matriculant (NMAT)<br />
(Students not requiring a program/major)<br />
If you wish <strong>to</strong> take a few <strong>course</strong>s, uncertain about what major you<br />
want, do not need a program of study leading <strong>to</strong> a degree or certificate<br />
and do not need <strong>to</strong> apply <strong>for</strong> financial aid, you do not need<br />
<strong>to</strong> declare a major. Students are eligible <strong>to</strong> register <strong>for</strong> <strong>course</strong>s with<br />
proof of required prerequisite completion. However, be<strong>for</strong>e your<br />
<strong>to</strong>tal credits at <strong>Union</strong> <strong>County</strong> College equal 12, you must take <strong>the</strong><br />
College Basic Skills Placement Test or prove you have successful<br />
completion of college level English Composition and/or Math or<br />
valid SAT Scores <strong>to</strong> exempt you. (See Placement Testing).<br />
Registration Hours<br />
Daily Registration, beginning November 7, 2011 <strong>for</strong> <strong>Spring</strong> <strong>2012</strong><br />
<strong>course</strong>s are available online and at <strong>the</strong> Cran<strong>for</strong>d, Elizabeth and<br />
Plainfield campuses.<br />
<strong>Spring</strong> <strong>2012</strong> classes begin Thursday, January 19, <strong>2012</strong>.<br />
Late registration fee charged on <strong>the</strong> first day of every session.<br />
Check <strong>the</strong> <strong>Spring</strong> <strong>2012</strong> calendar <strong>for</strong> all session start dates.<br />
