LEADERSHIP
IN
LIFELONG
LEARNING
Freeholder Chairwoman
Bette Jane Kowalski
congratulates one of the
standouts from this year’s
College for Teens.
In addition to traditional college course
offerings, Union County College is committed
to the rubric that learning is a lifelong
endeavor. Through its Department of
Continuing Education, it provides learning
opportunities for individuals of all ages.
These include Career Training and
Professional Development, Leisure and
Personal Enrichment, Basic Skills and ESL,
College for Kids and Teens, and Senior
Citizen programming.
This year, The Department offered non-credit instruction on all
college campuses and in the Union County College Bayway
Center, Roselle Park High School, Roselle Community School,
Union County Magnet High School, and the Union County
Police Academy.
Thanks once again to the generosity of the Union County Board of
Chosen Freeholders, the highly successful College for Teens and the
Senior Scholars programs provided intellectual stimulation to individuals
at both ends of the age spectrum. During the year stimulating sports, academic
and enrichment classes were enjoyed by hundreds of children
throughout the year through the Department’s “College for Kids and
Sports Spectacular.”
When all were counted, the College had offered 2,571 continuing education
classes during 2006-2007 that provided educational enlightenment
to almost 14,000 individuals.
