Objective 7.2.4 Lower financial barriers to student success by increasing<br />
financial assistance and <strong>of</strong>fering scholarships to attract a diverse population<br />

Vicky Saulsberry, Classified Staff,<br />
Office <strong>of</strong> Diversity<br />
Vicky Saulsberry started working<br />
part time for the School <strong>of</strong> Nursing<br />
while still a senior at East High<br />
School. Sixteen years later, she is<br />
helping students like herself find<br />
careers in health care fields<br />
through the Office <strong>of</strong> Diversity on<br />
the Anschutz Medical Campus.<br />
Although <strong>of</strong>ficially an administrative<br />
assistant, Saulsberry’s<br />
co-workers call her “the boss.”<br />
She coordinates logistics for <strong>of</strong>fice<br />
meetings, events, and travel; helps<br />
with high school and college outreach<br />
programs, and coordinates<br />
activities for and with student<br />
volunteers on the Anschutz<br />
Medical Campus.<br />
The best part <strong>of</strong> her job? The<br />
people. “I like working with high<br />
school and college students, being<br />
there for them. And being there<br />
for staff,” Saulsberry says with<br />
a smile. “I do whatever, when<br />
people need me.”<br />
