However, of greater concern is the current growing trade in the species for the international pet trade. At present it appears that individuals caught in the wild are being illegally exported out of Iran, and are finding their way into the pet trade. Some of the individuals in the trade are reportedly captive-bred but this requires confirmation. SRG 42 It is sometimes seen in the illegal pet trade which is an increasing threat to the species. Actions need to be taken immediately to prevent the illegal export of this species for a pet as is currently taking place. This is a new and increasing threat that must be stopped before it is too late. SRG 42 11
