<strong>Dear</strong> <strong>Incoming</strong> <strong>Student</strong>,
<strong>Congratulations</strong> on your conditional acceptance to the University Of Kentucky College Of
Pharmacy! There will be a one day informational session called Pre‐Professional Day on Friday, May
21, 2010. During Pre‐Professional Day you will be welcomed by students, faculty, and staff into your
new college and profession. You will have the opportunity to connect with current and incoming
students, have your questions answered, and deepen your understanding of the profession you are
joining.
Attendance is mandatory and dress is professional (shirt and tie, dress pants for men; dresses, slacks
or skirts and blouse for women.) You are welcome to bring a guest such as parents or spouse so
they too may learn about your future experience.
All sessions will be held in the <strong>Student</strong> Center Grand Ballroom‐not the College of Pharmacy, located on the
third floor of the University of Kentucky <strong>Student</strong> Center. The <strong>Student</strong> Center is located near the corner of
Avenue of Champions and South Limestone Street (404 S. Limestone, Lexington 40506). Registration
begins at 8:30 a.m. You may park in Parking Structure #5 located at 409 South Limestone (with entrances
on both Limestone & Upper.) There is a small cost to park in the structure. Below is basically the agenda
we will be following:
PRE‐PROFESSIONAL DAY
8:30 a.m. – 9:00 a.m.
Registration: <strong>Student</strong> Center Grand Ballroom Entrance, 3 rd floor
Pick up your Pre‐Professional Day packet at the registration table.
9:00 a.m. – 9:20 a.m.
Welcome: Overview of the Day, Greetings from the Dean
9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Order required and optional items: <strong>Student</strong> Center Grand Ballroom
Visit tables in Grand Ballroom to order scrubs and lab gown, clickers and other items from
student organizations; have your picture made for the College of Pharmacy <strong>Student</strong> Roster
and be fitted for your white coat.
Wildcard <strong>Student</strong> ID: Room 107, <strong>Student</strong> Center, first floor.
<strong>Student</strong>s new to UK must obtain a WildCard <strong>Student</strong> ID. NOTE: Please bring a photo ID and
$15.
You may also use this time to: Purchase summer textbooks from the UK Bookstore (<strong>Student</strong>
Center, first floor.)
10:30 a.m. – 11:25 a.m.
Information Sessions: Academic Expectations, Summer Assignment Overview, Professionalism;
Financial Aid Overview, Multicultural <strong>Student</strong> Affairs at UK College of Pharmacy, Campus
Management & Concerns‐parking, housing, technology, etc.
11:25 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
Lunch: Lunch is on your own; current Pharm.D. students will be available to meet with you
and your
guests for lunch in restaurants within walking distance.

12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Information Sessions (cont.): <strong>Student</strong> Organization Information; <strong>Student</strong> Affairs Information;
Rotation & Immunizations Requirements; <strong>Student</strong> Small Group Sessions; Parent, Spouse & Family
Information Session.
2:40 p.m. – 3:25 p.m.
Optional Walking Tour to the UK College of Pharmacy: Round trip takes about 45 minutes,
comfortable shoes recommended but not critical.
During the Pre‐Professional Day you will receive:
• Important dates for the 2010‐2011 academic calendar: includes dates for Professional
Development Workshop, PY1 White Coat Ceremony, CPR Training, class and exam schedules.
• Professional Program Course Descriptions
• Immunization Guidelines: outlines immunizations required by all incoming Medical Center
students.
• Technology Information: answers frequently asked questions regarding computer use in the
college.
• University Health Service Handbook: describes the health care options available to students.
• <strong>Student</strong> Parking Permit information.
