Keri Downs Dartmouth, Junior, Guard<br />

5-4, Everett, Mass. (Everett)<br />

Downs averaged 24.8 ppg, 4.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists<br />

per game, leading the Big Green to a 3-1 record. She shot<br />

56.9 percent from the floor and 96.8 percent from the<br />

free-throw line; set the school record by connecting on 25<br />

straight foul shots; scored a career-high 30 in a win over<br />

Colgate; tallied 26 points in a loss to #3 Vanderbilt, hitting<br />

on 10-of-12 from the field and 6-of-6 from the charity<br />

stripe; and recorded a double-double against Indiana St.<br />

Karen Bolster Princeton, Freshman, Guard<br />

5-8, Kendall Park, N.J. (Notre Dame)<br />

Bolster led Princeton in scoring in its first four games. She<br />

set a Princeton women’s basketball record for most points<br />

scored in a career debut with 24 points, making seven<br />

three-pointers. Only one other player, male or female,<br />

has done better— Bill Bradley, 27 points, 1962. She is<br />

averaging 14.8 ppg and is averaging 59 percent from<br />

behind the arc, making 13-of-22 triples this season.<br />

Princeton has started the season 3-1.<br />

IVY LEAGUE HONOR ROLL<br />

Jewel Clark Pennsylvania, Sophomore, Guard<br />

The Waldorf, Md., native scored a season-high 23 points in a 74-69 loss to La<br />

Salle. Clark was also named the 2001 Army Tip-Off Classic Most Valuable<br />

Player after leading the Quakers to a 63-59 win over Hofstra, scoring 16 points<br />

and grabbing nine rebounds. In the championship game, Clark had 18 points<br />

and eight rebounds in a 75-70 victory over Davidson.<br />

Lauren Kilduff Cornell, Sophomore, Guard<br />

The Flushing, N.Y., native was named to the All-Tournament team at the<br />

Holiday Inn Express Eagle Classic after doubling her career high with 18 points.<br />

She also added nine rebounds.<br />

Nyema Mitchell Brown, Sophomore, Forward<br />

Mitchell, of Birmingham, Ala., led the Bears to third-place in the UIC Tourney.<br />

She recorded a double-double, with 12 pts. and 12 reb. in a 68-47 loss to Alcorn<br />

State. She followed that performance with 14 points, nine boards and two blocks<br />

in a 73-57 victory over Air Force and was named to the All-Tournament team.<br />

Megan O’Neill Columbia, Junior, Guard<br />

The East Brunswick, N.J., native tied her career-high with 19 points vs Army in<br />

the Lions’ 64-61 win over the Black Knights. Her most important basket of the<br />

night came with six seconds left to play and tied the game at 61. Fouled on the<br />

play, O’Neill netted the free throw to secure the Lions’ victory. She also had a<br />

17-point effort in the overtime loss to UIC.<br />

Hana Peljto Harvard, Sophomore, Forward<br />

Peljto, a native of Brooklyn Park, Minn., averaged 20.8 points in her first four<br />

outings. She tied her career high with 27 points against Wagner. She leads the<br />

team in rebounding and scoring. She posted double-doubles in games against<br />

Boston U. (17 pts., 11 reb.) and Fairfield (15 pts., 12 reb.).<br />

Lauren Rigney Princeton, Senior, Wing<br />

The Marlborough, Mass., native is averaging 13.8 points per game this season<br />

and scored a career-high 20 points against Santa Clara. She was named to the<br />

All-Tournament team averaging 18 points and seven boards for the weekend.<br />

Meg Simpson Yale, Senior, Forward<br />

The Marietta, Ga., native was named to the Coors Classic All-Tournament team<br />

after setting the record for the most rebounds in tournament history with 28. She<br />

posted 12 points and 11 boards against Houston, then recorded six points and<br />

17 boards in the victory over Bowling Green. She is shooting 87.5% from the<br />

free-throw line.<br />

Brown Bears (2-2, 0-0 <strong>Ivy</strong>)<br />

Call It Even The Brown women’s basketball team has opened its 2001-02 season by recording a 2-2 record ...<br />

The Bears defeated Fordham on Nov. 17 with a thrilling 63-58 come-from-behind victory in the Bronx in their first<br />

game of the season ... Senior Rada Pavichevich (Norwood Park, Ill.) scored a game-high 19 points and pulled<br />

down nine rebounds ... Also turning in impressive performances were sophomore guards Tanara Golston (Skokie,<br />

Ill.) with 18 points and six steals and Stephanie Bruce (Summit, N.J.) with 14 points on five-of-eight shooting ... In<br />

their second game of the season, the Bears dropped a 66-45 decision to the URI Rams in Kingston ... Over the<br />

Thanksgiving weekend, Brown took home third place at the University of Illinois-Chicago Tournament ... Although<br />

the Bears suffered a 68-47 loss in the opening game to Alcorn State on Saturday, they quickly rebounded to earn a<br />

73-57 victory over the Air Force Falcons in the consolation game ... Pavichevich and sophomore Tara Williams<br />

(Portland, Ore.) each had 15 points to lead Brown to the victory ... Bruce also chipped in with 14 points and seven<br />

rebounds.<br />

Mitchell in the Middle Brown sophomore forward Nyema Mitchell (Birmingham, Ala.) was selected to the<br />

Columbia Lions (1-2, 0-0 <strong>Ivy</strong>)<br />

A Lion First The Lions’ 64-61 win over Army was Columbia’s first victory over the Black Knights since the<br />

series began in 1992 ... Junior Megan O’Neill (East Brunswick, N.J.) tied her career high with 19 points vs. Army,<br />

but her most important basket came with six seconds left to play in overtime and the score tied at 61 ... O’Neill got<br />

a pass on the left side of the basket and hit the layup to put the Lions up 63-61 and was fouled on the play ... She<br />

netted the free throw to secure the victory ...The Lions will host Hofstra on Tuesday at 5 pm in their home opener.<br />

Double-double In the Light Blue’s overtime loss in the season opener against Illinois-Chicago, senior tri-captain<br />

Megan Bramlette (Flossmoor, Ill.) had her first career double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds ... She is<br />

leading the team with 12.7 ppg and 6.0 rpg.<br />

Lesko To Overtime In her first ever collegiate game, freshman forward Nicole Lesko (Jasper, Ind.) hit a last<br />

second free-throw against Illinois-Chicago to tie the game and send it to overtime ... The first-year had 10 points in<br />

the contest ... She is averaging 6.3 ppg and team second 4.7 rpg.<br />

Cornell Big Red (1-3, 0-0 <strong>Ivy</strong>)<br />

En “Force” er Cornell defeated Albany 64-62 on Wednesday after sophomore tri-captain Karen Force<br />

(Columbus, Ind.) connected on a layup with 2.2 seconds remaining in the contest.<br />

Do-ing It Up Senior Do Stevens (Burton, Mich.) needs 43 points to become the ninth Big Red player to score<br />

1,000 points in a career ... In Cornell’s first three contests, Stevens, along with Force and Breean Walas<br />

(Bloomfield Hills, Mich.), has averaged double-digits in points.<br />

The Big Red Cornell lost its home-opener to Rice on Sunday evening ... The Big Red will look for its first home<br />

victory against Binghamton this Tuesday.<br />

Dartmouth Big Green (3-1, 0-0 <strong>Ivy</strong>)<br />

On the Road Again The Big Green finished its first two weeks at 3-1 with road wins over Colgate, Hartford<br />

and Indiana State ... Dartmouth’s only loss came on Sunday to No. 3 Vanderbilt ... The Big Green has scored more<br />

than 70 points in three-of-four games ... Dartmouth is in the midst of playing 11 straight road games ... They are<br />

shooting 79.5 percent from the free throw line this season.<br />

Double Trouble Junior Katharine Hanks (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) is averaging a double-double over<br />

Dartmouth’s first four contests with 21.3 ppg and 10.5 rpg ... She was named to the All-Tournament team at the<br />

First Tennessee Tournament by averaging 21.0 points and 9.5 boards against Indiana State and Vanderbilt ...<br />

Teammate, Keri Downs (Everett, Mass.), set the school record by connecting on 25 straight free throws ... She is<br />

averaging 24.8 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game, while shooting 56.9 percent from the floor and 96.8<br />

percent from the free-throw line ... Downs has tallied 30 points in the win over Colgate, 26 in the loss to Vanderbilt<br />

and 21 in the win over Hartford ... She, too, recorded a double-double, with 17 points and 10 assists in the win over<br />

the Sycamores.

Harvard Crimson (2-2, 0-0 <strong>Ivy</strong>)<br />

The Crimson Start Harvard is 2-2 overall heading into this weekend’s Wildcat Classic hosted by Kansas<br />

State ... Harvard will face Idaho on Friday and then the winner of the Kansas State vs. Grambling matchup ... The<br />

Crimson opened its season with a 77-54 win over Wagner, then fell to Boston U. 93-77 ... Harvard then went on the<br />

road for its next two contests, posting a 68-62 win over Fairfield and then dropping a 59-51 contest to Villanova.<br />

Peljto On Fire Sophomore guard Hana Peljto (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) averaged 20.8 points per game in her<br />

first four outings ... She tied her career-high in points with 27 against Wagner in the season opener ... She has led<br />

the Crimson in scoring in each game this season.<br />

Pennsylvania Quakers (2-1, 0-0 <strong>Ivy</strong>)<br />

Best Start The Quakers are off to their best start since the 1983-84 season when they also started the season<br />

2-0 before dropping their third game of the season ...Penn went on to finish second in the standings in that season<br />

... The Quakers will play for Philly bragging rights when they face the Temple Owls on Wednesday ... This weekend<br />

they travel to the Stony Brook Tournament to face Stony Brook and then LMU or George Mason.<br />

A Precious Jewel Sophomore guard Jewel Clark (Waldorf, Md.) scored a season-high 23 points against La<br />

Back On Track The Tigers, under the direction of first-year head coach Richard Barron, have eclipsed last<br />

season’s win total of two games in only four games in the season ... Princeton, 3-1, is off to its best start since<br />

1995-96 ... The Tigers’ only defeat came at the hand of nationally ranked Santa Clara ... Princeton heads to<br />

Delaware to play the Blue Hens on Saturday.<br />

Triple Threat Freshman Karen Bolster (Kendall Park, N.J.) is shooting 59 percent from behind the arc, making<br />

13-of-22 triples ... She leads Princeton in scoring after its first four games ... She set a Princeton women’s basketball<br />

scoring mark by putting up 24 points in her career debut ... The only other Princeton hoops player to post<br />

Colo. ... The two teams will face each in a month in the first round of the Gatorade Holiday Classic in Miami, Fla.,<br />

on Dec. 27 ... “This is a message sent because both teams will meet later in the year. So there’s going to be bragging<br />

rights and a lot of confidence for Yale going into the next meeting. A six-foot center [Meg Simpson] got 17<br />

rebounds against us!”—Bowling Green head coach Curt Miller ...Yale lost a close one to Houston in the first round<br />

of the tournament, 61-59 ... With 2.5 seconds remaining, Yale had a chance to tie or take the lead ... Senior Caitlin<br />

Bair’s (Highland, Md.) shot was blocked as time expired, preserving Houston’s win.<br />

One Shy Senior Meg Simpson (Marietta, Ga.) recorded 17 rebounds in the 81-69 win over Bowling Green ...<br />

Her 17 boards fell one shy of the tournament record for most rebounds in a game ... She did, however, claim the<br />

tournament record for most rebounds in tournament history with 28 ... Simpson recorded a double-double with 12<br />

Homeward Bound Boulder, Colo. native Helene Schutrumpf enjoyed a successful homecoming ... She<br />
