Annex 2. Search strategy<br />

The search strategy aimed to identify references dealing with <strong>the</strong> treatment <strong>of</strong> PPH. No limits were placed<br />

on <strong>the</strong> search regarding type <strong>of</strong> study, language or time frame.<br />

In November 2007, <strong>the</strong> Cochrane library, Pubmed, Embase, and Lilacs were searched using <strong>the</strong> following terms:<br />

▪ syntometrine<br />

▪ misoprostol<br />

▪ carboprost<br />

▪ sulprostone<br />

▪ factor VIIa<br />

▪ tranexamic acid<br />

▪ bimanual or manual<br />

▪ massage<br />

▪ packing<br />

▪ tamponade<br />

▪ balloon<br />

▪ ca<strong>the</strong>ter<br />

▪ Bakri or Blakemore or Foley or condom<br />

▪ compressive or compression or B-Lynch<br />

▪ (arterial or vessel or vascular or artery or arteries) and ligation<br />

▪ anti shock garments<br />

▪ <strong>postpartum</strong> or post partum<br />

▪ hemorrhage or <strong>haemorrhage</strong> or bleeding.<br />
