Nutrition and Weight Management After<br />

<strong>Cancer</strong><br />

This workshop will review <strong>the</strong> basics of nutrition<br />

and what a healthy diet should include,<br />

information on decoding nutrition labels and<br />

ingredients, food myths (sugar, soy, etc), vitamins<br />

and supplement recommendations, pros and cons<br />

of specific diets (vegan, macrobiotic, raw food,<br />

etc), how to give your eating habits a makeover,<br />

and why good nutrition is beneficial for cancer<br />

survivors will be discussed.<br />

Managing Late Term Treatment Related Side<br />

Effects<br />

This presentation will review <strong>the</strong> common late<br />

term side effects from your cancer treatment and<br />

how <strong>the</strong>y are treated/alleviated, what you should<br />

be on <strong>the</strong> lookout for, when you should call <strong>the</strong><br />

doctor, which medical professionals will play a role<br />

in your survivorship care.<br />

Healing Gardens<br />

at Stone Hill Farm<br />

Deb Marqui, LCSW, is a survivor of lymphoma and<br />

breast cancer. Through her cancer journey, she was<br />

inspired to create a healing sanctuary on her two<br />

acres of gardens and wooded paths and to share a<br />

safe, quiet place for o<strong>the</strong>rs to experience <strong>the</strong> restoration<br />

of mind, body, and spirit through nature.<br />

Feel free to read, draw, walk, sit, swing (on a swing<br />

or hammock), journal or meditate. Please enjoy and<br />

honor <strong>the</strong> quiet so that you and o<strong>the</strong>rs can hear nature<br />

speaking. Deb, a licensed clinical social worker,<br />

will be available to help guide <strong>the</strong> nature experience.<br />

Healing Gardens is free. Individuals and groups are<br />

This monthly support group embraces <strong>the</strong><br />

importance of those dedicated to caring for<br />

Knitting Circle<br />

Do you knit, crochet or do needlepoint?<br />

Repetitive needle work has been found to<br />

relieve stress and anxiety resulting in improved<br />

health. Join us in <strong>the</strong> afternoon for coffee and<br />

socializing. Bring your friends and family; this<br />

group is open to <strong>the</strong> community. Meets <strong>the</strong><br />

first and third Friday of every month from<br />

1:00-2:30pm at <strong>the</strong> CDH <strong>Cancer</strong> <strong>Center</strong>,<br />

<strong>LivingWell</strong> Fitness<br />

This upbeat class rotates through a variety<br />

of fitness routines, including cardiovascular<br />

routines, light weight training, bands and<br />

more. Movements can be modified for all levels<br />

of fitness. Open to men & women. Meets<br />

Tuesdays from 6-6:45pm. Gym shoes are<br />

recommended. A physician’s release and<br />

a health history form are required to be on<br />

file at <strong>LivingWell</strong> prior to taking this class.<br />

<strong>LivingWell</strong> Yoga<br />

Yoga helps increase flexibility, reduce anxiety<br />

and stress, support <strong>the</strong> immune system and<br />

enhance overall well-being. Poses are modified<br />

to adapt to all levels of experience, flexibility<br />

and limitations. A physician’s release and<br />

a health history form are required to be<br />

on file at <strong>LivingWell</strong> prior to taking this<br />

class. Meets Mondays and Wednesdays,<br />

from 6-7pm, and on Fridays from 9-10am<br />

for Adults<br />

Art can be a healing and life enhancing activity,<br />

guide you in expressing your creativity through<br />

various art media. No previous art experience or<br />

skills required. Open to patients and caregivers.<br />

This group provides those facing a breast cancer<br />

diagnosis an opportunity to share information,<br />

<strong>the</strong> first Monday of every month from<br />

7-8:30pm beginning May 7, 2012 at <strong>the</strong><br />
