Dying To Do Letterman Comedy Show*<br />

Steve Mazan, comedian and author of “Dying<br />
To Do Letterman”<br />
Steve Mazan is a comedian, Emmy winning writer,<br />
and <strong>the</strong> subject of <strong>the</strong> award-winning documentary<br />
“Dying to do Letterman.” In 2005, Steve was<br />
diagnosed with cancer and given a worst-case<br />
scenario of five years to live. Ra<strong>the</strong>r than slow down,<br />
Steve decided to use whatever time he had left to<br />
chase his ultimate dream: to perform his comedy<br />
on The Late Show with David Letterman. Steve’s comedy has been called<br />
“brilliant” and “clever” and between <strong>the</strong> laughs he includes his inspirational<br />
reminder that “It’s not how much time you have, it’s what you do with it.”<br />

Bring <strong>the</strong> kids out for this four-day adventure at<br />
Leroy Oaks Forest preserve. We will enjoy nature<br />
in <strong>the</strong> creek, catching frogs & tadpoles, make a<br />
sculpted creation in clay, paint a canvas, and create<br />
a torn paper picture. Please wear clothing that can<br />
get dirty and wet, apply sunscreen and bug spray,<br />
and pack a lunch each day. Those ages 5 and up are<br />
welcome to attend without a parent. Those younger<br />
than 5 are required to be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. Group will<br />

Laughter is nature’s medicine that can help you manage pain while<br />
reducing stress. Join laughter yoga leader and facilitator, Terri Reasoner<br />
Ph.D., for some time to de-stress with laughter. Using Laughter Yoga<br />
exercises, this simple yet powerful approach to laughter can be done by<br />

This workshop will review <strong>the</strong> basics of nutrition<br />
and what a healthy diet should include,<br />
information on decoding nutrition labels and<br />
ingredients, food myths (sugar, soy, etc), vitamins<br />
and supplement recommendations, pros and cons<br />
of specific diets (vegan, macrobiotic, raw food,<br />
etc), how to give your eating habits a makeover,<br />
and why good nutrition is beneficial for cancer<br />
survivors will be discussed.<br />

This presentation will review <strong>the</strong> common late<br />
term side effects from your cancer treatment and<br />
how <strong>the</strong>y are treated/alleviated, what you should<br />
be on <strong>the</strong> lookout for, when you should call <strong>the</strong><br />
doctor, which medical professionals will play a role<br />
in your survivorship care.<br />

breast cancer. Through her cancer journey, she was<br />
inspired to create a healing sanctuary on her two<br />
acres of gardens and wooded paths and to share a<br />
safe, quiet place for o<strong>the</strong>rs to experience <strong>the</strong> restoration<br />
of mind, body, and spirit through nature.<br />
Feel free to read, draw, walk, sit, swing (on a swing<br />
or hammock), journal or meditate. Please enjoy and<br />

cancer treatment to help combat <strong>the</strong> appearancerelated<br />
side effects of radiation, chemo<strong>the</strong>rapy, and<br />

Culinary Comforts<br />
Culinary Comforts is a 4-week class that teaches<br />

one entrée, one side dish, and one dessert each<br />

Good Grief is an 11-week time limited group<br />
providing education and emotional support<br />
for participants of <strong>LivingWell</strong> who recently<br />
experienced <strong>the</strong> loss of a loved one to cancer.<br />
Topics include <strong>the</strong> stages of grief, coping with<br />
holidays and special events, and techniques to help<br />
participants grow through <strong>the</strong> grief process. Preregistration<br />

Bring <strong>the</strong> kids out for this 4 day adventure<br />
at Leroy Oaks Forest preserve. We will enjoy<br />
nature in <strong>the</strong> creek and catching frogs & tadpoles,<br />
make a sculpted creation in clay, paint<br />
a canvas, and create a torn paper picture.<br />
Please wear clothing that can get dirty and wet,<br />
apply sunscreen and bug spray, and pack a lunch<br />
each day. Those ages 5 and up are welcome to<br />
attend without a parent. Those younger than 5<br />
are required to be accompanied by a parent or<br />

Time Out<br />
Time Out is designed to give kids a break from<br />
<strong>the</strong> cancer experience. This group provides<br />
recreational activities that vary from meeting<br />
to meeting and are open to pediatric cancer<br />

Energy Healing<br />
Healing Touch and Reiki (pronounced ray-kee)<br />
are gentle, non-invasive energy healing systems<br />

different parts of <strong>the</strong> client’s fully clo<strong>the</strong>d body<br />
