Astronomy <strong>and</strong> Solar Physics. Courses on station operation <strong>and</strong> image <strong>in</strong>terpretation. <strong>Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g</strong> <strong>and</strong><br />

Master’s level courses <strong>in</strong> remote sens<strong>in</strong>g. Master's <strong>and</strong> doctoral level graduate courses <strong>in</strong><br />

<strong>in</strong>formatics (pattern recognition). Master's <strong>and</strong> doctoral level graduate courses <strong>in</strong> meteorology<br />

(dynamic meteorology, numeric weather forecast<strong>in</strong>g, synoptic meteorology, satellite meteorology,<br />

<strong>Research</strong>: High energy astrophysics, radio-astronomy <strong>and</strong> solar physics, geomagnetism,<br />

ionosphere, upper atmosphere, middle <strong>and</strong> lower atmosphere, nuclear geophysics. Applications of<br />

remote sens<strong>in</strong>g to agriculture, cartography, environmental monitor<strong>in</strong>g, forestry <strong>and</strong> oceanography.<br />

Development of automatic image process<strong>in</strong>g systems. On-board telecommunication subsystems<br />

(telecomm<strong>and</strong> reception, telemetry transmission, repeat<strong>in</strong>g of signals); ground segment<br />

telecommunications (ma<strong>in</strong> <strong>and</strong> back-up stations for track<strong>in</strong>g, telemetry <strong>and</strong> comm<strong>and</strong> operations of<br />

satellites; data collection platforms; communications network). Atmospheric <strong>and</strong> climate<br />

simulation, numeric weather forecast<strong>in</strong>g, meteorological satellite reception stations, automatic<br />

remote data collection platforms, automatic image process<strong>in</strong>g systems, image compression<br />

techniques, real-time dissem<strong>in</strong>ation of meteorological satellite imagery <strong>and</strong> data<br />

Facilities: Laboratories, field work facilities when needed<br />
