NOTICE
INVITING APPLICATIONS FOR BRANCH CHANGE
(Applicable to 2010 Admitted Batch Students only)
Students securing CGPA of 8.5 or above at the end of 2 nd semester are eligible to be
considered for branch change subject to availability of seats in the branch of
his/her choice, which is 10% of the sanctioned intake for the said branch. The
detailed Regulation, Guidelines and the Eligibility criteria for change of Branch is
given in Annexure- 1.
Desirous students for change of branch may apply to the Office of the Registrar in
the prescribed format (enclosed) between 08/07/2011 to 12/07/2011.
The applications are to be personally deposited in the Office of the Registrar within
the above said period. No application will be accepted beyond the notified date.
The applications not in the prescribed format will be rejected.

CHANGE OF BRANCH : REGULATIONS AND GUIDELINES
(Extract of Chapter VIII of Regulations)
1.0 General
a. The Institute shall have provisions for change of branch facility based on
performance of students in their 1 st and 2 nd Semester examinations of the first
year taken together.
b. The facility shall be available to students admitted to B.Tech programme only
in the Institute and shall not be applicable to students of other professional
courses.
c. This provision is an incentive to foster and encourage sincerity, excellence and
dedication of students in pursuit of the courses. Change in branch to eligible
and interested students shall be irrespective of his ranking at the time of
admission.
d. Option for change of branch is voluntary; eligible students desirous of taking
advantage of the provision shall be required to apply for the same in prescribed
format, to the Office of the Registrar, KIIT University.
e. For eligible candidates, the ‘change of branch committee’ constituted for the
purpose shall strictly adhere to the chronology of students’ choice as requested
in his application. In case all options sought by a student in order of preference
get exhausted, the student shall not be allotted to change of branch.
f. Change of branch shall be accorded singly and strictly on the basis of relative
merit of aspiring students on the basis of performance of a student in the 1 st
and 2 nd semester examination taken together in the form of CGPA of First year.
2.0 Eligibility Criteria for change of Branch
Only those students who fulfill the following criteria, shall be considered eligible
for change of branch :
a. He / She is a bonafide regular student of the Institute, has completed
registration formalities with the Institute and has attended at least 75% of
classes in each theory/ practical and sessional items of the 1 st and 2 nd
Semester courses.
b. He / She has appeared in and cleared each theory / practical / sessional item
of the 1 st and 2 nd semester courses in his/her first attempt. Ineligibility /
inability to appear in an examination due to whatever reason, including illness
or other reasons beyond one’s control, shall be treated as a lost attempt.
c. He / She has secured an CGPA of 8.5 or above till the end of 2 nd Semester
examinations.

3.0 Provisional Guidelines for Chronological action and allotment of changed
branch to eligible students :
a. Before the last day of classes as per Academic Calendar of 2 nd semester,
Registrar shall put up a notice inviting applications for change of branch from
desirous students, clearly stating the eligibility criteria for such a request and
allowing the students sufficient time as approved by the Vice Chancellor for
submission of applications for branch change.
There would only be a provision for withdrawal of application submitted for
branch change within a certain time limit but no other alteration in the original
application would be admissible beyond the deadline for submission of branch
change application.
b. Students shall collect the application format form the institution office and
submit the completed applications along with enclosures specified therein to
the office of the Registrar, KIIT University.
c. A committee consisting of Deans and few senior faculty members chaired by
the Registrar to be approved by the Vice Chancellor shall examine the
applications with regard to fulfillment of eligibility criteria and shall consider
the applications strictly on the basis of students academic performance as
evidenced by the CGPA of First Year.
d. In case of ‘bunching’ of CGPA, grades obtained in 2 nd Semester Mathematics,
and in case of a tie in Mathematics as well, grades obtained in 2 nd Semester
Physics and so on, shall decide the relative merit position.
e. Number of vacancies in a specific branch shall be decided on the basis that the
final effect of change in the gainer branch shall not make the total number of
students in the said branch to exceed by 10% of the sanctioned intake for the
branch.
f. Consolidated list of students, permitted change of branch facilities with details
of the change, shall be finalized before the commencement of next Academic
Session and duly notified after due clearance by the Vice Chancellor.
g. Students shall be accorded a maximum of three days time for accepting the
offer, failing which the change of branch shall be offered to eligible students in
waiting , including updating of allotment if required.

h. Students accepting change of branch may have to get re-registered with newly
allotted Registration and Roll numbers. The procedure for Re-registration shall
be the same as in case of original registration.
i. The responsibility of ensuring that the Institute records pertaining to branch
changes are duly altered / updated and re-registration appropriately completed
shall rest solely with the Registrar, KIIT University.
