Drone larvae
After a period of cold or one without harvest at the
end of April or beginning of May, it is not unusual to
see bees ejecting drones at the hive entrance. They
also suck the food from those cells which have contained
drone larvae as it is pointless to feed them. The
same thing happens in August when the drones are
expelled.
