Backnobber Techniques
Tensor
Fasciae
Latae
Piriformis
The TFL is a strong muscle that is attached to
the Illiotibial Band. If you use your legs
powerfully and experience pain in the front of
your hip, use the Backnobber to search for
muscle knots below and to the outside of the
hip bone. Be sure to keep your hip relaxed in
a neutral position or a very slight stretch.
If you experience tenderness in your sacrum
or hip, chances are that the Piriformis muscle
is involved. Use the precision of the
Backnobber to probe for the tenderness
of the offending muscle which lies deeply
under the Gluteus maximus.
Gluteals
Muscles of the three
gluteal muscles are
responsible for much
discomfort felt in the
lower back. However,
muscle knots in the
Gluteus Minimus can cause
discomfort down the back
or side of the thigh and
the lower leg, even as far
away as the ankle.
A tip for men:
Be mindful that a
back pocket wallet can
compress the gluteal
muscles causing a
restriction of adequate
blood flow. The
resulting muscle pain
can be in the low
back or even mimic
the pain of sciatica.
