Where do you Hangout?
It is just another world where people, young and old,
from different part of the world are present and ready
to connect with you. Some of these people can be
good to you; can be your good friends. But some of
these are different. They have different intentions and
can be harmful.
This world has a name called Social Media!

Why do your parents worry when
you hangout online?
Let’s talk about where you hang-out with your friends.
Is it a market? or a Mall or may be some sports club.?
Imagine a situation when suddenly a stranger might
strikes up a conversation with you and in no time, you
start liking what he is saying. Things start getting
exciting and one day when you become comfortable
with him, he hurts you badly, very badly. That’s why
parents worry; they get nervous, because they love you,
right? The same can happen in a Social Media. After all;
there are so many out there trying to connect with you.
Does that mean Social Media is bad??No, of course not!
But only if you are smart enough. It can bring so many
good things in your life. But before that, some basics
need to be learned. So, keep on reading.

Somebody is always following you!
Yeah! That’s true!
You always leave your tracks behind when you post
anything online. Photographs posted on Flickr, the
personal information added to a Facebook wall,
the book reviews or comments on blogs or other
websites — all of these leave a footprint of where
you have been, information about what you think,
and details about who you are. Putting all these
together and someone might be able to create a
pretty accurate (or inaccurate) picture of you. But
there are ways to be careful ; that’s where thinking
about privacy settings comes in.

What's Privacy Got to Do With It?
May be you don’t want everyone to see all of the
details of your life. That’s why you need to make sure
the personal information you post on social sites can
only be seen by the friends and family you select. Most
social media sites provide you with the ability to change
your privacy settings. These settings are important in
determining who can see what information is posted.
It’s always a good idea to keep your profile and photos
private. Do not let strangers find out personal details
about you. Make sure to regularly check your privacy
settings on social media sites. A site can (and often
does) change the way those settings work. What you
thought was private is suddenly no longer private.

Meeting People ONLINE
You share pictures, videos, thoughts, and plans
with friends, others who share their interests, and
sometimes, the world at large. Talking to people
online can help you connect with your friends, and
even your family members, but it’s important to
navigate these spaces very safely.
Sharing too much information or posting pictures,
video, or words that can damage a reputation or hurt
someone’s feelings is not a good idea. If you know
how to behave and also know how other person is
suppose to behave with you in the real world, you are
almost safe and good when you are online.
