Chapter 1
When “ME” becomes “WE”
It is a story of a lamb. I guess you
know what a lamb is? It’s the baby of sheep.
There was a shepherd in a village who loved
his sheep very much. He used to take good
care of them.
Everyday he used to take them to the green
fields to let them graze the grass. All the
sheeps were very happy with him and loved
him back. He used to shave off the wool
from the sheep and sell it to the different
people. That’s how he earned enough
money for his living.
Since he was not a rich person, he didn’t
have a car or a truck. He used to take wool on
the bullock-cart to different people to
sell. The bullock too loved him back
because he even took good care of
them too.
Once it was a bright sunny day and the
shepherd decided to go to the nearby village to sell
some wool. As he was loading the wool on the cart,
the sunny day started turning into a very dark day.
The black clouds had covered the sun and hence it
became dark.
6

But since the shepherd had no money left
at all to get food for himself or grass for the
sheep or the cow, he decided to travel in
the rain. Since the wool was covered
with plastic, he did not worry
about the wool getting wet. But he
had no raincoat for himself.
He thought to cover himself with a big piece of
plastic which was there before him but he used
it to cover the cow. Every animal was really
impressed by his this act of kindness. Then he
started his journey to the village. As the time
passed, he returned in the evening.
7

He was all wet. It was still raining but
not very heavily. He had brought green
grass with him. He fed the sheep and
the cow. All the animals noticed
that he wasn’t very well. He was
continuously sneezing and coughing.
His hands too felt warm.
After feeding the animals, he went inside
his cottage and then following conversation
took place:
Lamb: “I think he’s not well.”
Cow: “Oh ask me! Poor master had to travel all
day long in the rain. He got so wet. He has been
coughing and sneezing since morning.”
8

Lamb: “Oh poor master, we wish we could do
something for him”
Cow: “Oh please don’t act. I know
all of you are very happy that they
master fell sick. He’ll not be able to
take-off your wool now”
Lamb: “I am not acting. All of us were really
very worried when he went out in the rain”
Cow: “Oh come on, how can you all worry?
You all were after all in the shade. Not even
a drop touched your body and you say you
were worried.”
By now the Mother sheep interrupts
the conversation.
9

Mother sheep: “Oh dear, there is no point
arguing with the cow. He’s very rude.
Please come with me. It’s time for
your food.
Lamb: “but Mom, he says that……”
The Mother sheep pulls the lamb and takes
her away from the cow.
The next morning all of them were waiting
eagerly to see their master.
“He generally is never late waking up in the
morning. How come he has not come out
yet?” Said one of the sheeps from the herd.
