LARAMIE COUNTY COMMUNITY COLLEGE
GOLDEN EAGLE ATHLETICS
Athletic Director
The Laramie County
Community College
Golden Eagle
athletics program
is dedicated to our
athletes, student
body, community
supporters and fans.
We are proud to
offer intercollegiate
athletics in horse
showing, rodeo,
men’s basketball,
women’s volleyball,
and men’s and women’s soccer. LCCC works
hard to encompass a complete college
experience. An athletic program that creates
school pride for our students, staff and alumni is
a significant part of that inclusive experience.
Our program places an emphasis on the
student half of student-athlete. Our athletes
practice, train and compete at the peak of their
abilities to achieve success in their sport, but
work even harder to excel in the classroom.
The success of the Golden Eagles athletic
program will not be solely measured on wins
and losses, but on the type of student-athletes
who come out of our program as responsible,
professional, well-rounded individuals. The
support of the student body, faculty, staff,
administration and the community is an
important motivator for this ultimate success
and is greatly appreciated.
The LCCC athletic program pledges to
represent the college competitively, with dignity
and integrity. With the talent, the resources
and the support of our fans, I believe LCCC can
be competitive and successful at the NJCAA
national level.
Sincerely,
The sponsors of LCCC’s rodeo, equine,
basketball, volleyball and men’s and
women’s soccer teams are an integral
part of a program that supports our
community in a number of ways. They
give young athletes a chance to use their
athletic gifts to earn a college education
that they otherwise may not be able to
afford. The traditional college environment
created by the presence of athletics has
helped to attract younger students to
LCCC, effectively keeping our children
“at home” and in Wyoming to attend
college. As the Golden Eagles continue to
establish a presence as our “hometown”
teams, we give the community something
to rally around. The LCCC athletic
program provides Cheyenne residents with
affordable family entertainment.
The Laramie County Community College
Golden Eagle Booster Club was formed in
order to give LCCC alumni and friends an
opportunity to support our program with
sponsorships starting at $100. To find out
the benefits of sponsorship, call Brenda
Laird at 307.778.1372. We hope that
you will choose to be part of the exciting
tradition of Golden Eagle athletics.
Building
for the
Future
Since 2004, the Wyoming State Legislature has
generously granted LCCC $8 million to be matched
dollar-for-dollar through the state’s Community
College Challenge Grant. With this match money, the
Matching the Spirit campaign has added nearly $16
million to the foundation’s endowments and we plan
to complete this campaign this year. The foundation
also works to lay the groundwork for future fundraising
success by expanding the donor base to include
alumni and friends, retaining donors and encouraging
increased levels of support. In addition to raising
money effectively, the foundation takes very seriously
the responsibility of providing careful management of
funds already raised.
Employees and members of the college and foundation
boards of trustees have stepped up to the plate and
given to the college as well. In the recent Employee
Giving Campaign run by the foundation, every member
of the foundation board donated. The board created
the new LCCC Board of Trustees Scholarship and
employees of the college contributed $72,310 in new
gifts and pledges. Those donations will be matched by
through the Matching the Spirit program, bringing the
total to $144,620. Since 2004, employees and retirees
at the college have contributed more than $965,000
through the Employee Giving Campaign. Employees and
retirees have established 77 new scholarships to honor
loved ones, celebrate milestones or support students
struggling financially to make it through college.
