LINK goals are to better connect low-income residents to growth opportunities and support business growth Leverage emerging opportunities by better connecting workers/ skills to jobs 1 DigitalWork NYC: Training program to increase awareness of online work opportunities that allow participants to earn money completing digital tasks (e.g., transcription, image tagging), build an employment history, and create a pathway towards digital jobs 2 3 “Learn as you Earn” Advancement Program: Paid internships for Associate degree or certificate program candidates to obtain relevant, in-demand skills, work experience, wage and credits alongside classes Immigrant Bridge Program: Increases earning potential of underemployed, foreign-trained immigrants with high-demand skills (e.g., STEM), through career counseling, low-interest loans, licensing pathways, and job placement services Support and help businesses and service providers 4 5 6 7 8 Jobs and Economic Mobility (JEM) Track in <strong>2013</strong> NYC BigApps Competition: Brings together the tech and CBO communities to create technology-enabled solutions to help CBOs more effectively address challenges they face in serving low-income populations LIFT Entrepreneurship Program: Supports low-income entrepreneurs to start and grow businesses by (1) providing space and technical support, (2) access to loans, (3) partnerships with local anchors NYC Business Innovation Challenge: Five-borough, dual-round competition to challenge businesses, service providers and community groups to unlock the potential in NYC’s workforce and neighborhoods PROGRESS Networks: Develops consortia of SMEs that leverage scale to lower the cost of doing business in particular areas to enable better provide worker benefits and services Vacant Lot Activation Programs: Puts long-term vacant land to productive use by utilizing City owned vacant lots Note: Initiative numbers in circle are specific to distressed neighborhoods; colored boxes denote barriers addressed by proposed initiative NEW YORK CITY ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION
