unique, high quality sterling silver jewelry.
Through the juxtaposition of freshwater
pearls with sculptural sterling silver, she
mixes the organic with the inorganic. Using
traditional metalsmithing techniques,
Myers’ work is hand fabricated using
sterling and fine silver with 14k gold and
pearls for color. It is not unusual for one
of her pieces to take over 18 hours to
produce.
Cutesy but not Cutesy, Diane Koss
June 1 – August 1, 2012
Opening Reception: Friday, June 1
5 – 9 pm
Diane Koss, No. 4 (of 5)
from “Home is where the
heart is” series, 2010, faux
fur, polyester felt,
and fiberfill.
Diane Koss (Westmont, NJ) of Cutesy but
not Cutesy uses sewing and creating as a
way to pay homage to her grandmother’s
hard work in hand stitching clothing
and quilts. It allows Koss time to reflect
on the disappearing tradition of the
handmade. Her monsters allow her to add
a contemporary twist on a long-standing
tradition. Each monster is an extension
of herself and her creativity. They are
adventurous creatures and deserve to be
released to all corners of the earth!
