3 QFleet Journey Would you pass the road rules test? Simple misunderstandings of road rules have the potential to cause incidents on our roads resulting in minor collisions, major crashes, serious injury or even worse. According to the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR), fundamental road rules about roundabouts, merging, yellow lights, safe following distances, giving way, u-turns and keeping left on multilane roads are problems for many drivers. It is every driver’s responsibility to keep up to date with road rules and help keep our roads safe. Before heading out this holiday season, why not take the time to refresh your knowledge of road rules with the Here For Life program by TMR? Visit http://hereforlife.qld.gov.au/ and test your knowledge of the Queensland Road Rules with an online quiz. The website also has informative videos of road rules in action. Keep the rules handy in your car or bag by downloading the Road rules refresher pocket guide. ‘Tis the season to be…safe! QFleet's Safety Manager Allan Smith is hard at work updating QFleet’s Safe Driving Guide, an online resource to help drivers gain information on a range of topics related to safe driving. Allan is urging drivers to slow down and take extra care on roads this Christmas and New Year period and help reduce the likelihood of crashes, injuries and fatalities. New safety fact sheets on a range of topics have been recently added to the Safe Driving Guide to help drivers stay safe on roads, including journey planning, passenger behaviour, driver distractions, driving on country roads and managing road rage. The guide is useful not only to QFleet clients and those involved in fleet management, but also to anyone else who ventures onto our roads. 4 QFleet Journey QFleet vehicle return procedure At the end of each lease, clients must return the vehicle to QFleet’s Zillmere workshop or one of QFleet’s Return Agents. An understanding of the process of returning your QFleet vehicle at lease end will help ensure the process is as quick and smooth as possible. • The returned vehicle must be clean enough for an adequate inspection to take place. • The inspection will assess the exterior and interior condition of the vehicle (excluding the under body). What is involved in returning a QFleet vehicle? When you return your vehicle, QFleet (or our agent) will inspect the vehicle. The inspection will take approximately 20 minutes. Please note that it is essential to make an appointment with your nearest QFleet Return Agent for returning a vehicle. Key points to remember when returning a vehicle • All vehicles must be returned with: • All sets of keys, key pads and all remote access devices. • The spare wheel and tools. • The vehicle’s handbook and servicing logbook. • At least ¼ tank of fuel. • All accessories fitted to the vehicle that were included in the lease. • The inspection will also look for evidence that your organisation has maintained the vehicle to the manufacturer’s specifications, including the presence of a stamped service manual. • The inspecting officer will complete a Return Vehicle Inspection Report (RVIR). • A representative of your organisation should be present during the inspection so the RVIR can be signed by both parties. • The vehicle will later undergo a comprehensive mechanical and under body inspection. QFleet may be required to notify your organisation of any further damage to the vehicle’s mechanical and body components as a result of this inspection.
