Stay long above 1,760 pts. The weakness shown by 29 May’s “Upper Shadow” was indeed a sign of things to come as the
technical picture deteriorated following yesterday’s decline. The violation of the 1,770-pt support level also ended the
indecision visible from the “Dojis” of 30 and 31 May, and suggests that the index will likely move lower. Nonetheless, we
are holding on to the long recommendation until the near 4-week strong support level of 1,760 pts is convincingly violated.
The FKLI has stayed above both the 50-day and 200-day MAV lines, with the longer-term uptrend intact, due to the
unbroken series of higher lows since 2009.
Thus, the index has to hold above 1,760 pts to keep the possibility of a rebound alive. Buying should gain further traction if
it gets above yesterday’s high of 1,772 pts. Resistance levels are seen at 30 May’s high of 1,777 pts, 29 May’s high of 1,785
pts and 1,790 pts – near 22 May’s high. Again, a close above the psychological 1,800 pts, which will push it above 15 and 16
May’s “Long Black Days”, is needed to end the 3-week negative bias overhang and extend buying. Selling will, however,
continue if the index closes below the 1,760-pt support level, and that should warrant a short position. Supports are found
at 1,750 pts and 1,740 pts – an important intraday level of 6 May, while a stronger support lies at 6 May’s low of 1,720 pts.
Stay short at below MYR2,400. Selling pressure intensifies as the FCPO continued to close below the round figure of
MYR2,400, despite trading above the level intraday. Weakness should be confirmed if the commodity closes lower today,
preferably below the MYR2,370 support level. The FCPO is still on the downtrend that began after the failed test at the
MYR3,100 resistance level on 28 Aug 2012, with the latest high at MYR2,615, reinforced by the longer-term negative
“Death Cross” of the 50-day and 200-day MAV lines that emerged in July 2012.
The “Upper Shadow” of the latest candle suggests more downside pressure and a firm bias should keep the commodity
below MYR2,400. A close below MYR2,370, which will nullify 31 May’s white candle, should confirm the weakness. This
should lead to a test of the strong support at MYR2,340, coincidently just below the 50-day MAV line, and a violation will
push the commodity below 23 May’s “Lower Shadow” and intensify selling. Further supports are seen at MYR2,320 and the
round figure of MYR2,300. A close above MYR2,400, however, indicates that the 4-week rebound off the MYR2,250 support
is not over. In fact, strong buying can be expected, as this will overturn the negative sentiment brought by the failed test of
MYR2,400 in the last five days and could even warrant a long position. A retest of 29 May’s high of MYR2,420 is then
expected, and a stronger resistance is found at MYR2,430, near 28 March’s high.
