Sunday 16 September
Give thanks for the growth of prayer events
such as Pray Any Way and Strictly Come
Praying. Ask that young people would become
intercessors for their peers.
Andy Bathgate would appreciate prayer as he
preaches at Olivet Evangelical Church in Falkirk
today. Ask for God to speak powerfully
through his Word.
Jen Robertson is at Hillhouse Parish Church in
Hamilton for a ‘Celebrating Children’ service. Pray
that the congregation would be encouraged.
Pray too for the SU Group at Udston Primary
which the church has supported for many years
under Charlotte Craig’s leadership.
Monday 17 September
Give thanks for an upsurge in volunteers at the
Dunbar Area Christian Youth Project, which has
a new chair, secretary and management group
members. As the trust recruits volunteers for its
mentoring programme, thank God for the positive
changes this work has made in young lives.
Pray for Keith Primary School P7s as they enjoy
their annual School Residential at Lendrick Muir.
Tuesday 18 September
Pray for the planning group which meets today
to draw together the programme for the annual
SU Scotland Staff Conference in December.
Pray for John Nonhebel, Urban Ministries
Leader, as he develops relationships with those
involved in ministering to Scotland’s poor and
disadvantaged. Give thanks for encouragements,
particularly those emerging as leaders through
Motiv8 residential events.
Wednesday 19 September
Pray for Jackie Ringan, who is overseeing SU
Scotland’s training and discipleship strategy.
Give thanks for the approximately140 people who
have taken part in our Gap Year programme since
its introduction in 1991; pray for wisdom in the
development of a new Gap Year programme which
will incorporate both discipleship and service.
Thursday 20 September
SU Scotland is partnering with the Baptist Union,
Church of Scotland and CARE in the Serve Your
Local School project, which seeks to inspire and
resource local churches to engage with their local
school. Tonight the partnership steering group
meets; do pray for its new chair, and Kathryn
Campbell as she administers the project.
Pray for protection for God’s work in our schools.
We have seen doors opening in amazing ways to
reach an unchurched generation. Pray that God
would guard these opportunities.
Friday 21 September
St. Mungo’s Church, Balerno are bringing their
children’s ‘Xplorers’ group to Lendrick Muir for a
weekend away. Pray for a great weekend.
At Alltnacriche a group of young people from
Hilton Church in Inverness are having their youth
weekend away. Pray for the time they will share
around worship and the Bible.
Saturday 22 September
Pray for ‘Focus’, a one-day workshop event
organised by Andrew Thompson, Alan Myles
and the Moray Action Group aimed at a broad
audience, including the non-churchgoing public.
Tony Watkins of the Damaris Trust will speak
today on ‘The Art and Soul of Cinema’.
The team in Scripture Union Tajikistan face
special difficulties because of the poor economic
situation in the country. Clubs are often
interrupted by power cuts and club members
have to keep on their outdoor clothes as heating
is inadequate. Pray for perseverance.
Sunday 23 September
Pray for those involved in preparing and
planning the SU Holidays programme
and brochure for 2013, particularly Ewen
Cunningham and Christine Murison.
Wigtownshire Action Group meets tonight in
Glenluce to pray and develop plans for implementing
SU Scotland’s strategy in the area. Pray for wisdom
and guidance for this amazing group of volunteers
who have a real desire to see more young people
from Stranraer, Newton Stewart and surrounding
towns discover Jesus.
Monday 24 September
Give thanks for those who support Oxgangs
Primary, Edinburgh, in prayer. Join with them
in praying for the group of P7 pupils from the
school who are taking part in a School Residential
at Lendrick Muir this week.
Give thanks for the generous response from
churches and individuals to an appeal for financial
support from the BUSY Project. The project was
also blessed by awards from two trusts, enabling
them to look ahead to the next three years.
Tuesday 25 September
Andy Bathgate is speaking to a group of United
Free Church ministers today at Gartmore
House. Please pray that the subject of ‘Children
and Church’ will help these leaders to make a
difference back in their local churches.
The Centres and Holidays Committee meets
this evening, reviewing the summer, thinking
strategically about the work at the centres and
considering issues and challenges across its remit.
Wednesday 26 September
Please pray for the Management Team (Andy
Bathgate, Robin MacLellan, Christine Murison
and Phil Wray) as they meet overnight at Lendrick
Muir and reflect in greater depth on issues facing
SU Scotland.
Pray for the Support Services Team in their
vital ministry to SU Scotland through their
roles in IT, finance, communications, HR and
development. Pray particularly for Emma Boyd
(Communications & Marketing Coordinator) who
has joined the team to cover Carren Malcolm’s
maternity leave.
Thursday 27 September
The management meeting for the 2CY Trust in
Lanarkshire meets this evening. Pray for them as
they discuss the work of the trust and support Alex
Kelly in his role as SU Scotland’s Associate Worker.
Prayer diary
Pray for the Junction 12 Board which meets
tonight. Their agenda will include looking
at fundraising to meet budget needs and
supporting the new J12 worker, Gordon McKie.
Friday 28 September
At Alltnacriche this weekend Colin Carmichael is
leading an event for P5-P7 pupils from across the
Highlands. Give thanks for those attending, for
the volunteers on the team and the provision of a
great centre to be based at.
Eaglesham Parish Church Youth Group and
Bearsden Cross Church Bible Class are among the
groups at Lendrick Muir this weekend. Pray that
this weekend away would strengthen the regular
work of these youth groups.
Saturday 29 September
Give thanks for the regular early morning prayer
meetings that are held in the SU Scotland
Dumfries office on the first Wednesday of every
month. Pray that those who gather would know
God’s heart for this region.
Pray for an increase in the number of Roman
Catholic schools being registered for prayer with
Pray for Schools Scotland.
Sunday 30 September
Pray for the ministry of our centres at
Alltnacriche and Lendrick Muir, particularly
giving thanks for a generous response to
the Lendrick Muir ‘Raise the Roof’ appeal to
enable essential roof and related repairs over
the next 3 years.
Today, Pray Any Way is taking place in Aberdeen
for the first time. Pray for much encouragement
for the families attending and for a lasting impact
on children’s lives.
Tomorrow, Richard Taylor will join around 150
P7s from the Dunbar cluster at their transition
camp at Aberfoyle. Pray for Richard as he delivers
sessions based on the Parable of the Wise and
Foolish Builders, that the children may consider
God as a foundation stone for their lives.
