Sunday 16 September<br />
Give thanks for the growth of prayer events<br />
such as Pray Any Way and Strictly Come<br />
Praying. Ask that young people would become<br />
intercessors for their peers.<br />
Andy Bathgate would appreciate prayer as he<br />
preaches at Olivet Evangelical Church in Falkirk<br />
today. Ask for God to speak powerfully<br />
through his Word.<br />
Jen Robertson is at Hillhouse Parish Church in<br />
Hamilton for a ‘Celebrating Children’ service. Pray<br />
that the congregation would be encouraged.<br />
Pray too for the SU Group at Udston Primary<br />
which the church has supported for many years<br />
under Charlotte Craig’s leadership.<br />
Monday 17 September<br />
Give thanks for an upsurge in volunteers at the<br />
Dunbar Area Christian Youth Project, which has<br />
a new chair, secretary and management group<br />
members. As the trust recruits volunteers for its<br />
mentoring programme, thank God for the positive<br />
changes this work has made in young lives.<br />
Pray for Keith Primary School P7s as they enjoy<br />
their annual School Residential at Lendrick Muir.<br />
Tuesday 18 September<br />
Pray for the planning group which meets today<br />
to draw together the programme for the annual<br />
SU <strong>Scotland</strong> Staff Conference in December.<br />
Pray for John Nonhebel, Urban Ministries<br />
Leader, as he develops relationships with those<br />
involved in ministering to <strong>Scotland</strong>’s poor and<br />
disadvantaged. Give thanks for encouragements,<br />
particularly those emerging as leaders through<br />
Motiv8 residential events.<br />
Wednesday 19 September<br />
Pray for Jackie Ringan, who is overseeing SU<br />
<strong>Scotland</strong>’s training and discipleship strategy.<br />
Give thanks for the approximately140 people who<br />
have taken part in our Gap Year programme since<br />
its introduction in 1991; pray for wisdom in the<br />
development of a new Gap Year programme which<br />
will incorporate both discipleship and service.<br />
Thursday 20 September<br />
SU <strong>Scotland</strong> is partnering with the Baptist <strong>Union</strong>,<br />
Church of <strong>Scotland</strong> and CARE in the Serve Your<br />
Local School project, which seeks to inspire and<br />
resource local churches to engage with their local<br />
school. Tonight the partnership steering group<br />
meets; do pray for its new chair, and Kathryn<br />
Campbell as she administers the project.<br />
Pray for protection for God’s work in our schools.<br />
We have seen doors opening in amazing ways to<br />
reach an unchurched generation. Pray that God<br />
would guard these opportunities.<br />
Friday 21 September<br />
St. Mungo’s Church, Balerno are bringing their<br />
children’s ‘Xplorers’ group to Lendrick Muir for a<br />
weekend away. Pray for a great weekend.<br />
At Alltnacriche a group of young people from<br />
Hilton Church in Inverness are having their youth<br />
weekend away. Pray for the time they will share<br />
around worship and the Bible.<br />
Saturday 22 September<br />
Pray for ‘Focus’, a one-day workshop event<br />
organised by Andrew Thompson, Alan Myles<br />
and the Moray Action Group aimed at a broad<br />
audience, including the non-churchgoing public.<br />
Tony Watkins of the Damaris Trust will speak<br />
today on ‘The Art and Soul of Cinema’.<br />
The team in <strong>Scripture</strong> <strong>Union</strong> Tajikistan face<br />
special difficulties because of the poor economic<br />
situation in the country. Clubs are often<br />
interrupted by power cuts and club members<br />
have to keep on their outdoor clothes as heating<br />
is inadequate. Pray for perseverance.<br />
Sunday 23 September<br />
Pray for those involved in preparing and<br />
planning the SU Holidays programme<br />
and brochure for 2013, particularly Ewen<br />
Cunningham and Christine Murison.<br />
Wigtownshire Action Group meets tonight in<br />
Glenluce to pray and develop plans for implementing<br />
SU <strong>Scotland</strong>’s strategy in the area. Pray for wisdom<br />
and guidance for this amazing group of volunteers<br />
who have a real desire to see more young people<br />
from Stranraer, Newton Stewart and surrounding<br />
towns discover Jesus.<br />
Monday 24 September<br />
Give thanks for those who support Oxgangs<br />
Primary, Edinburgh, in prayer. Join with them<br />
in praying for the group of P7 pupils from the<br />
school who are taking part in a School Residential<br />
at Lendrick Muir this week.<br />
Give thanks for the generous response from<br />
churches and individuals to an appeal for financial<br />
support from the BUSY Project. The project was<br />
also blessed by awards from two trusts, enabling<br />
them to look ahead to the next three years.<br />
Tuesday 25 September<br />
Andy Bathgate is speaking to a group of United<br />
Free Church ministers today at Gartmore<br />
House. Please pray that the subject of ‘Children<br />
and Church’ will help these leaders to make a<br />
difference back in their local churches.<br />
The Centres and Holidays Committee meets<br />
this evening, reviewing the summer, thinking<br />
strategically about the work at the centres and<br />
considering issues and challenges across its remit.<br />
Wednesday 26 September<br />
Please pray for the Management Team (Andy<br />
Bathgate, Robin MacLellan, Christine Murison<br />
and Phil Wray) as they meet overnight at Lendrick<br />
Muir and reflect in greater depth on issues facing<br />
SU <strong>Scotland</strong>.<br />
Pray for the Support Services Team in their<br />
vital ministry to SU <strong>Scotland</strong> through their<br />
roles in IT, finance, communications, HR and<br />
development. Pray particularly for Emma Boyd<br />
(Communications & Marketing Coordinator) who<br />
has joined the team to cover Carren Malcolm’s<br />
maternity leave.<br />
Thursday 27 September<br />
The management meeting for the 2CY Trust in<br />
Lanarkshire meets this evening. Pray for them as<br />
they discuss the work of the trust and support Alex<br />
Kelly in his role as SU <strong>Scotland</strong>’s Associate Worker.<br />
Prayer diary<br />
Pray for the Junction 12 Board which meets<br />
tonight. Their agenda will include looking<br />
at fundraising to meet budget needs and<br />
supporting the new J12 worker, Gordon McKie.<br />
Friday 28 September<br />
At Alltnacriche this weekend Colin Carmichael is<br />
leading an event for P5-P7 pupils from across the<br />
Highlands. Give thanks for those attending, for<br />
the volunteers on the team and the provision of a<br />
great centre to be based at.<br />
Eaglesham Parish Church Youth Group and<br />
Bearsden Cross Church Bible Class are among the<br />
groups at Lendrick Muir this weekend. Pray that<br />
this weekend away would strengthen the regular<br />
work of these youth groups.<br />
Saturday 29 September<br />
Give thanks for the regular early morning prayer<br />
meetings that are held in the SU <strong>Scotland</strong><br />
Dumfries office on the first Wednesday of every<br />
month. Pray that those who gather would know<br />
God’s heart for this region.<br />
Pray for an increase in the number of Roman<br />
Catholic schools being registered for prayer with<br />
Pray for Schools <strong>Scotland</strong>.<br />
Sunday 30 September<br />
Pray for the ministry of our centres at<br />
Alltnacriche and Lendrick Muir, particularly<br />
giving thanks for a generous response to<br />
the Lendrick Muir ‘Raise the Roof’ appeal to<br />
enable essential roof and related repairs over<br />
the next 3 years.<br />
Today, Pray Any Way is taking place in Aberdeen<br />
for the first time. Pray for much encouragement<br />
for the families attending and for a lasting impact<br />
on children’s lives.<br />
Tomorrow, Richard Taylor will join around 150<br />
P7s from the Dunbar cluster at their transition<br />
camp at Aberfoyle. Pray for Richard as he delivers<br />
sessions based on the Parable of the Wise and<br />
Foolish Builders, that the children may consider<br />
God as a foundation stone for their lives.<br />
