general weekly prayer point.

Tuesday 3 July
Pray for Gordon McKie as he leads a new Mission
in Carron, near Falkirk. Pray for many local
children to come along. Pray too for lasting
blessing for the local churches involved.
Sunday 1 July
Over 20 students have just completed LeadUP
training, most of whom will serve at SU
Holidays & Missions over the summer. Pray
they will be able to put into practice lessons
learned and trust the Lord to use them in
situations which may push them out of their
comfort zone.
Today a service is being held at St. Mark’s Church
in Stirling to celebrate the end of their Mission.
Give thanks for new contacts with local families
and pray that some might attend today.
Yesterday saw Holidays begin at Glenshee,
Kingscross and Lendrick Muir. Ask God for his
Holy Spirit to move among them, and for wisdom
for Team Leaders Julie Moody (nee Wilson),
Andrew Thompson and Kenny McKie.
Monday 2 July
Kenny McKie is leading a Holiday at Lendrick
Muir with 110 young people. Give thanks for the
continuity of this event, enabling young people
to return year on year and grow in faith. Pray that
many may participate in a voluntary discipleship
course being laid on by some of the team.
Campers arrive at two Motiv8 events today, at
Alltnacriche (led by Libby Lobban and John Gillan)
and Scoughall (led by Ian Emery and Phil Brown).
Pray that the young people will settle in well, be
responsive to the teaching and have lots of fun.
Bob Harley and David Wharton are leading the
Mission in Kirriemuir. Pray that the team works
James Gill leads the Scone Mission this week,
seeking to encourage the local churches in their
long vacancy and as they face a difficult union.
Pray for God to work in the hearts and minds of
the children who attend.
Pray for Andrew Thompson as he leads a Holiday
this week at Kingscross, Arran. Pray for safety in
travel and activities and for everyone to have an
encounter with God.
Wednesday 4 July
Today Carina Lamb is leading the end-of-term
assembly at Lochmaben Primary. Give thanks for
this opportunity.
Five representatives from the COOL Associate
Trust fly to Lima for three weeks to serve with
the Vine Trust and SU Peru. Pray that work party
members will have their eyes opened to the
transforming work of the gospel in action.
Children return home today from the first of the
summer’s camps at Vorzel in Ukraine. Pray that
they leave with happy memories and a desire to
discover more about the Christian faith.
Thursday 5 July
Two Missions are taking place in Dunfermline
this week. Andrew Philip leads the team at
Pitcorthie, and Euan & Ruth Clipston the team
at St. Margaret’s Church. Praise God for the
commitment of local Christians and pray for the
ongoing impact of this outreach.
Pray for trainee leaders who completed Basecamp
training earlier this year. Pray for them to gain
new skills and confidence as they serve on teams.
May they grow in dependence on God as they
help other young people to encounter Jesus.
The planning group for the Edinburgh East Craigs
Mission meets for the final time this evening.
Pray for a real sense of the programme coming
together and of team members being in the
correct roles. Pray for some younger helpers who
will move into this role for the first time, having
been part of the primary club until now.
Friday 6 July
Praise God for the support raised through last
year’s SU International Holiday Fundraising Project
in Scotland, which is enabling 60 Tatar children to
attend camps this summer in Crimea, Ukraine.
A new Mission is underway in Drumlithie in
Aberdeenshire, led by Jenny Townsend. Pray that
many local children will come and be excited,
enthused and challenged as they hear how much
God loves them.
Please remember, and continue to remember
throughout the summer programme, those who
are providing 24-hour on-call emergency phone
cover, advising team leaders on many different
issues, some of which can be complex.
Saturday 7 July
Many Holidays start and finish today, which
means lots of travel across the country. Pray
for those travel leading, driving minibuses and
coaches, those on duty at bus stations and pickup
points. We must never take safety for granted;
pray for God’s continued protection.
Colin Carmichael is leading a Holiday at Glenshee.
Pray for the team as they look after the young
people and open the Bible with them.
Give thanks for the appointment of Hazel Ferrier
to the post of Administrator in our Inverness
office. Please pray for her as she settles in and
learns all the different aspects of the job.
Sunday 8 July
Planning for 2013 SU Holidays is well
underway, even as summer events are in
full swing. Pray for Ewen Cunningham and
others involved in bringing the publicity and
programme together. Pray for wisdom in
inviting Team Leaders to lead events in 2013.
Pray for John Nonhebel & Hazel Gray as they
lead a Motiv8 holiday team at Scoughall. As the
children hear about Jesus and how his disciples
responded to him, pray that they would want to
be Jesus’ disciples today.
Esther McLeod is leading a Holiday at Lendrick Muir;
also at Lendrick Muir are two football Holidays led
by Ross Murray, Gavin Berry and Chris Beattie. Ask
that the teams may be equipped to communicate
the gospel with the young people in their care.
