Tuesday 3 July<br />
Pray for Gordon McKie as he leads a new Mission<br />
in Carron, near Falkirk. Pray for many local<br />
children to come along. Pray too for lasting<br />
blessing for the local churches involved.<br />
Sunday 1 July<br />
Over 20 students have just completed LeadUP<br />
training, most of whom will serve at SU<br />
Holidays & Missions over the summer. Pray<br />
they will be able to put into practice lessons<br />
learned and trust the Lord to use them in<br />
situations which may push them out of their<br />
comfort zone.<br />
Today a service is being held at St. Mark’s Church<br />
in Stirling to celebrate the end of their Mission.<br />
Give thanks for new contacts with local families<br />
and pray that some might attend today.<br />
Yesterday saw Holidays begin at Glenshee,<br />
Kingscross and Lendrick Muir. Ask God for his<br />
Holy Spirit to move among them, and for wisdom<br />
for Team Leaders Julie Moody (nee Wilson),<br />
Andrew Thompson and Kenny McKie.<br />
Monday 2 July<br />
Kenny McKie is leading a Holiday at Lendrick<br />
Muir with 110 young people. Give thanks for the<br />
continuity of this event, enabling young people<br />
to return year on year and grow in faith. Pray that<br />
many may participate in a voluntary discipleship<br />
course being laid on by some of the team.<br />
Campers arrive at two Motiv8 events today, at<br />
Alltnacriche (led by Libby Lobban and John Gillan)<br />
and Scoughall (led by Ian Emery and Phil Brown).<br />
Pray that the young people will settle in well, be<br />
responsive to the teaching and have lots of fun.<br />
Bob Harley and David Wharton are leading the<br />
Mission in Kirriemuir. Pray that the team works<br />
James Gill leads the Scone Mission this week,<br />
seeking to encourage the local churches in their<br />
long vacancy and as they face a difficult union.<br />
Pray for God to work in the hearts and minds of<br />
the children who attend.<br />
Pray for Andrew Thompson as he leads a Holiday<br />
this week at Kingscross, Arran. Pray for safety in<br />
travel and activities and for everyone to have an<br />
encounter with God.<br />
Wednesday 4 July<br />
Today Carina Lamb is leading the end-of-term<br />
assembly at Lochmaben Primary. Give thanks for<br />
this opportunity.<br />
Five representatives from the COOL Associate<br />
Trust fly to Lima for three weeks to serve with<br />
the Vine Trust and SU Peru. Pray that work party<br />
members will have their eyes opened to the<br />
transforming work of the gospel in action.<br />
Children return home today from the first of the<br />
summer’s camps at Vorzel in Ukraine. Pray that<br />
they leave with happy memories and a desire to<br />
discover more about the Christian faith.<br />
Thursday 5 July<br />
Two Missions are taking place in Dunfermline<br />
this week. Andrew Philip leads the team at<br />
Pitcorthie, and Euan & Ruth Clipston the team<br />
at St. Margaret’s Church. Praise God for the<br />
commitment of local Christians and pray for the<br />
ongoing impact of this outreach.<br />
Pray for trainee leaders who completed Basecamp<br />
training earlier this year. Pray for them to gain<br />
new skills and confidence as they serve on teams.<br />
May they grow in dependence on God as they<br />
help other young people to encounter Jesus.<br />
The planning group for the Edinburgh East Craigs<br />
Mission meets for the final time this evening.<br />
Pray for a real sense of the programme coming<br />
together and of team members being in the<br />
correct roles. Pray for some younger helpers who<br />
will move into this role for the first time, having<br />
been part of the primary club until now.<br />
Friday 6 July<br />
Praise God for the support raised through last<br />
year’s SU International Holiday Fundraising Project<br />
in <strong>Scotland</strong>, which is enabling 60 Tatar children to<br />
attend camps this summer in Crimea, Ukraine.<br />
A new Mission is underway in Drumlithie in<br />
Aberdeenshire, led by Jenny Townsend. Pray that<br />
many local children will come and be excited,<br />
enthused and challenged as they hear how much<br />
God loves them.<br />
Please remember, and continue to remember<br />
throughout the summer programme, those who<br />
are providing 24-hour on-call emergency phone<br />
cover, advising team leaders on many different<br />
issues, some of which can be complex.<br />
Saturday 7 July<br />
Many Holidays start and finish today, which<br />
means lots of travel across the country. Pray<br />
for those travel leading, driving minibuses and<br />
coaches, those on duty at bus stations and pickup<br />
points. We must never take safety for granted;<br />
pray for God’s continued protection.<br />
Colin Carmichael is leading a Holiday at Glenshee.<br />
Pray for the team as they look after the young<br />
people and open the Bible with them.<br />
Give thanks for the appointment of Hazel Ferrier<br />
to the post of Administrator in our Inverness<br />
office. Please pray for her as she settles in and<br />
learns all the different aspects of the job.<br />
Sunday 8 July<br />
Planning for 2013 SU Holidays is well<br />
underway, even as summer events are in<br />
full swing. Pray for Ewen Cunningham and<br />
others involved in bringing the publicity and<br />
programme together. Pray for wisdom in<br />
inviting Team Leaders to lead events in 2013.<br />
Pray for John Nonhebel & Hazel Gray as they<br />
lead a Motiv8 holiday team at Scoughall. As the<br />
children hear about Jesus and how his disciples<br />
responded to him, pray that they would want to<br />
be Jesus’ disciples today.<br />
Esther McLeod is leading a Holiday at Lendrick Muir;<br />
also at Lendrick Muir are two football Holidays led<br />
by Ross Murray, Gavin Berry and Chris Beattie. Ask<br />
that the teams may be equipped to communicate<br />
the gospel with the young people in their care.<br />

Monday 9 July<br />
A specialist mountain biking Holiday is taking<br />
place at Galloway Activity Centre, led by<br />
Ewen Cunningham. This is a very physically<br />
demanding week with lots of excitement.<br />
Pray that the young people will find the Bible<br />
teaching equally challenging.<br />
Christine Rollo is leading local Christians and SU<br />
<strong>Scotland</strong> volunteers in a Mission in Sauchie. Give<br />
thanks for the SU Groups held in four local primary<br />
schools and pray that these children might attend<br />
and bring others with them. Give thanks too for<br />
the enthusiasm of the local Parish Church.<br />
Interviews for a Gap Year Coordinator are due to<br />
take place around this time. Pray for wisdom for<br />
those interviewing and for a real sense of God’s<br />
call on someone for this part-time post.<br />
Tuesday 10 July<br />
Many Holidays are running this week. Lift to God<br />
the needs of those at Alltnacriche (led by Chris &<br />
Claire Macrae), Comrie Croft (led by David Clipston<br />
& Val Scott), Glenshee (led by Colin Carmichael),<br />
Kingscross (led by Rachel Sloan) and the Creative<br />
Arts Holiday at Blaithwaite (led by Gordon Roy).<br />
Jackie Ringan asks us to give thanks for an<br />
amazing Holiday at Aviemore this past Easter<br />
where there was a real hunger for truth in the lives<br />
of many campers and clear evidence of answered<br />
prayer in the lives of those who returned to camp.<br />
Ask the same for each event this summer.<br />
Wednesday 11 July<br />
Pray for Team Leaders of SU Holidays & Missions,<br />
especially those who are new to this responsibility.<br />
Pray for wise and Godly leadership in all the<br />
spiritual and practical aspects of their event.<br />
The Bible teaching at the Creative Arts Holiday<br />
takes place after lunch, before attention moves<br />
to evening performances. There have been great<br />
times of testimony in previous years as campers<br />
tell of God working in their lives; pray for this year<br />
to be just as honest and powerful.<br />
Tima Stupak and a team of volunteers from<br />
Open Bible, Ukraine, begin a series of four 10-day<br />
Holidays today. Many of the campers come from<br />
the Crimean Tatar minority; pray for open and<br />
good relations between them and the other<br />
campers and leaders and for tact and wisdom in<br />
discussing issues of faith.<br />
Thursday 12 July<br />
Give thanks for good relationships with, and<br />
positive feedback from, schools who have visited<br />
Lendrick Muir this past academic year. Pray for a<br />
full diary of school bookings for next year.<br />
Pray for recruitment of the right people to join<br />
the staff team at Lendrick Muir, where there are<br />
key vacancies.<br />
Pray for all the SU Group leaders who are<br />
enjoying a rest from their groups over the next<br />
few weeks. Pray that they would be inspired and<br />
refreshed for the start of a new school term in<br />
August. Ask for the Lord to provide new leaders<br />
where some are stepping down.<br />
Friday 13 July<br />
Children from St Petersburg, Russia, attended a<br />
camp earlier this month. Pray that a club can be<br />
started for these city children at the end of the<br />
summer. Pray too for a similar camp for teenagers<br />
which is taking place next week.<br />
Give thanks for new Action Groups in<br />
Wigtownshire and Ayr. Pray that these groups will<br />
see God at work as they implement some of SU<br />
<strong>Scotland</strong>’s strategy in their areas, working with<br />
Carina Lamb, Paula Morton and Julie Bain.<br />
Saturday 14 July<br />
Give thanks for the Junior and Senior Music<br />
Holidays which begin today at Lendrick Muir,<br />
led by Lesley Crawford and Robin & Rachael<br />
MacLellan. Pray for a fun week where the young<br />
people can develop their musical skills as well as<br />
grow closer to God.<br />
A Drama Holiday is also taking place at Lendrick<br />
Muir in association with Foolproof Theatre<br />
Company, led by Fiona Stewart. Pray for young<br />
people to discover their God-given gifts and use<br />
them for his glory.<br />
Andy Bathgate is preaching tomorrow at Juniper<br />
Green Parish Church and would appreciate prayer<br />
that God’s truth would be spoken clearly and<br />
received humbly.<br />
Sunday 15 July<br />
Give thanks for the wonderful response<br />
to the Holidays Sponsorship Appeal again<br />
this year, enabling Motiv8 Holidays to be<br />
provided at huge subsidy, and many other<br />
children and team members attending<br />
Holidays to be sponsored. These gifts come<br />
with much appreciation.<br />
Today sees a large group of young people travel<br />
from Whiteinch Church in Glasgow to Whithaugh<br />
Park in the Borders. Diane McWilliam is leading<br />
this Holiday for young people associated with<br />
ongoing youth work in the area. Pray for an<br />
encouraging week.<br />
Monday 16th July<br />
Young people arrive at Scoughall today to begin<br />
a Motiv8 Holiday led by Libby Lobban & Jonny<br />
Clipston. Pray for a spiritual harvest in the midst<br />
of all the fun and activities.<br />
Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still<br />
four months until harvest’? I tell you,<br />
open your eyes and look at the fields!<br />

Give thanks that problems which faced the Elie<br />
Mission team concerning accommodation and<br />
insurance were happily resolved. Pray for Bruce<br />
& Kirsty Lockhart, their family and their team, as<br />
they serve at Elie over the next two weeks. Pray<br />
for safety, stamina, good health and another<br />
awesome fortnight of God working in young lives.<br />
Tuesday 17 July<br />
Pray for Holidays underway this week at<br />
Alltnacriche (led by Jackie Ringan), Kingscross (led<br />
by Kathryn & Phil Coad), and Glenshee (led by Jo &<br />
Aaron Black). Pray for good weather, good fun and<br />
food, and above all, an openness to the gospel.<br />
Pray for wisdom for Gavin Thomson as he<br />
leads the Whiting Bay Mission on Arran. Pray<br />
that God’s Holy Spirit brings unity to the team,<br />
purpose to the Mission and hence blessing to the<br />
community of local people and holidaymakers.<br />
Wednesday 18 July<br />
Pray for Assistant Team Leaders, who are usually<br />
responsible for organising the activity programme<br />
at their event. Pray for fresh ideas, flexibility and<br />
an ability to coordinate different activities. Pray<br />
also for a close working relationship with the Team<br />
Leader at their event.<br />
Activity instructors play a vital role in teaching<br />
young people new skills. Give thanks for them<br />
and pray that their example and witness would<br />
point to Christ.<br />
Thursday 19 July<br />
Give thanks for those who sign up to be part of<br />
the Prayer Hotline during the holiday season,<br />
responding to immediate requests for prayer<br />
from Team Leaders.<br />
This year’s SU International Holiday Fundraising<br />
Project is raising funds to support clubs and<br />
day camps throughout Ukraine. Pray for<br />
effective use of the promotional material at<br />
the Holiday and Mission events in stimulating<br />
prayer and giving, thus encouraging our fellowworkers<br />
in Ukraine.<br />
Friday 20 July<br />
Children from Highlands & Islands are travelling a<br />
long distance from scattered locations tomorrow<br />
to their Holiday at Lendrick Muir, led by Colin<br />
Carmichael and Scott McRoberts. Pray for safety.<br />
Give thanks for the young people who are returning<br />
to this event and pray that they are moved on in<br />
their faith and relationship with Jesus.<br />
Praise God for the resources at our disposal: for<br />
centres and campsites where we can run SU<br />
Holidays; experienced volunteers and staff; many<br />
people committed to prayerful support of SU<br />
<strong>Scotland</strong>’s ministry. Pray we will be wise stewards<br />
of the resources entrusted to us.<br />

Saturday 21 July<br />
Several Holidays begin today – at Lendrick Muir<br />
(led by Adrienne Cartwright), Scoughall (led by<br />
Gordon & Philippa McKinlay, and Glenshee (led<br />
by Rosie & Paul Bowker). Pray that at each event<br />
there may be an awareness of the Holy Spirit at<br />
work, drawing people to Jesus.<br />
Give thanks for the visit of Whitney Kuniholm (author<br />
of E100) to <strong>Scotland</strong> in March. His vision for a Bible<br />
reading revival has inspired many. Pray for <strong>Scotland</strong>’s<br />
young people to have a hunger for God’s Word.<br />
Pray for those attending church tomorrow as part<br />
of their Holiday or Mission, for whom this is an<br />
unfamiliar experience.<br />
Sunday 22 July<br />
A summer team from Britain is at the SU centre<br />
near St Petersburg, Russia, for two weeks from<br />
today working with local volunteers to run Holiday<br />
Clubs for homeless children and for children with<br />
disabilities. Pray that they will bring Christian joy<br />
to the lives of these vulnerable children.<br />
Young people leave home today to start a Holiday<br />
at Alltnacriche led by Ali & Jill Laing. Amidst the<br />
beautiful surroundings may these young people<br />
grow in their faith and love for the Lord.<br />
Monday 23 July<br />
Children head to Arran today to continue the<br />
summer season at Kingscross. Kenny & Janet<br />
MacMillan are leading an eight-day camp. Pray<br />
for energy for the team – and grace to cope with<br />
the weather!<br />
Pray for Colin & Pauline Forster as they lead a<br />
new Mission in Stevenston, Ayrshire. Pray that<br />
the team members work well together and that<br />
Christ is proclaimed.<br />
Give thanks for the work done by staff in the<br />
Holidays Department and Volunteers Unit and<br />
pray for clear thinking as they work with travel<br />
logistics, parents and volunteers.<br />
Tuesday 24 July<br />
Paul Beautyman is leading a Holiday for children<br />
in Argyll at the Benmore Centre. Pray for new<br />
friendships among the children and ongoing<br />
relationships following the event.<br />
A Holiday Club is taking place in Musselburgh.<br />
Pray that relationships might be built up with<br />
those who came last year, and for new contacts.<br />
Pray for Ali Black and her team to know God’s<br />
leading in all that they do.<br />
Wednesday 25 July<br />
We rejoice in the sacrificial commitment of<br />
hundreds of volunteers who make it possible<br />
for SU Holidays & Missions, as well as Regional<br />
Weekends, to take place. Pray that each one<br />
would know God’s pleasure in their service. So<br />
often people give testimony to how the Lord has<br />
worked in their life as they have served him at<br />
these events. Pray that for many, their time at an<br />
event this summer would be hugely significant in<br />
every aspect of their lives.<br />
Thursday 26 July<br />
In Vorzel, Ukraine, a special effort is being<br />
made to invite children from the immediate<br />
neighbourhood to attend the camps being run at<br />
the site over the next fortnight. Pray for greater<br />
contact with the local community.<br />
Give thanks for an SU Group started in Vale of<br />
Leven Academy near Dumbarton last year by<br />
two young probationary teachers, Emma and<br />
Roxanne. Pray that these two young teachers will<br />
find employment and give thanks for volunteer<br />
Sheena Buchan who will continue the group<br />
when term restarts.<br />
Friday 27 July<br />
A team led by Jen Robertson arrives at<br />
Scoughall today to prepare for the arrival of<br />
50 young people aged S1-S3 tomorrow. Pray<br />
for Jen and the team as they prepare both<br />
practically and spiritually.<br />
Give thanks for the North Ayrshire Action Group<br />
who are challenged to reach out to young people<br />
and recruit new volunteers in the area. Pray<br />
particularly for Shirley, Alison and Anna as they<br />
seek to move the group forward.<br />
Saturday 28 July<br />
Pray for those on duty at bus stations and<br />
various pick-up points today as children travel<br />
to their Holiday. Pray for travel leaders in their<br />
role of reassuring parents and providing a warm<br />
welcome to young people starting their Holiday.<br />
Pray that SU <strong>Scotland</strong>’s presence at the CLAN<br />
Gathering Marketplace would be fruitful in<br />
encouraging visitors to begin partnering with us<br />
in our ministry by praying, volunteering or giving.<br />
Sunday 29 July<br />
Please pray that the four key emphases of the<br />
SU <strong>Scotland</strong> strategy will be clearly seen in<br />
our ministry: prioritising the disadvantaged,<br />
working with churches, always taking account<br />
of family context and clearly evaluating what<br />
we are doing.<br />
Pray for those who provide the catering at<br />
summer events, especially for chief cooks who<br />
plan the menus and lead the catering teams. Pray<br />
for safety in the kitchen and for energy for all the<br />
hard work involved.<br />
Monday 30 July<br />
Hilary Phillips is leading a large mixed-activity<br />
Holiday at Lendrick Muir, alongside Niall & Reenie<br />
Sherriffs who are running a specialised Watersports<br />
Holiday. Lift them to the Lord in prayer.<br />
Give thanks for many years of partnership in<br />
mission between SU <strong>Scotland</strong>, Colinton Mains<br />
and Craiglockhart Churches in Edinburgh. Pray<br />
for Gordon McBirnie and his team as they share<br />
the Good News of Jesus in their Holiday Club.<br />
Five churches in Prestonpans work together under<br />
the banner of SU <strong>Scotland</strong> and the leadership of<br />
Hazel Gray to deliver a very busy week of mission.<br />
Pray that this event will draw everyone involved<br />
closer to Jesus.<br />
Tuesday 31 July<br />
James Gill is leading Shiskine Mission in Arran<br />
Free Church of <strong>Scotland</strong>. Pray for God’s blessing<br />
on this ministry and for help for James as he<br />
trains and prepares local Christians to take over<br />
the future leadership of the Mission.<br />
Pray for Dave Moss, Assistant Manager at<br />
Alltnacriche. His wife Anna is preparing to move<br />
to Alltnacriche to join Dave with their two boys<br />
Caleb and Jared, having finished working out her<br />
maternity leave in Medway. May they settle in<br />
quickly and find great joy in being together again<br />
as a family.<br />
Wednesday 1 August<br />
Pray for the young people attending Holidays<br />
this week at Glenshee (led by Stuart Smith) and<br />
Alltnacriche (led by Colin & Ruth Sinclair). Pray for<br />
a response to all they are hearing of the Lord.<br />
Pray for SU India who, in going to press, were<br />
still looking for a new Director. Pray too for John<br />
Jacob, who continues to faithfully serve the Lord<br />
despite recent health problems.<br />
Thursday 2 August<br />
A celebration takes place today at Kingscross,<br />
Arran, giving thanks to God for 60 years of<br />
summer Holidays. Rejoice with us!<br />
Pray for God’s protection over the Bayton family<br />
at Alltnacriche, where Paul is Manager and his<br />
wife Shula is Senior Instructor. Praise God for the<br />
completion of their son Finlay’s chemotherapy<br />
and that the subsequent bone marrow biopsy<br />
showed normal cells. Pray that he will grow<br />
stronger and keep well as his immunity recovers.<br />
Give thanks for the safe arrival of Gareth & Trish<br />
Archibald’s baby daughter, Sofia, in May. Pray for all<br />
Christian parents in their role of nurturing children.<br />

Friday 3 August<br />
The last Kingscross Holiday of the season begins<br />
today with a large number of young people<br />
and team, led by Kenny McKie. This is a hugely<br />
popular event with many children returning year<br />
after year. Pray that those who are due to move<br />
on may consider the many SU <strong>Scotland</strong> training<br />
events on offer and return to serve the Lord on<br />
teams in future years.<br />
Kenny McKie wants you to give thanks for the<br />
4th year boy from Lanarkshire who made a<br />
commitment to follow Christ at an Easter Holiday.<br />
There are many like him. Pray that they make good<br />
choices and a real difference in school and family.<br />
Saturday 4 August<br />
Give thanks for the commitment and service of<br />
Donald & Dorothy Webb and George & Audrey<br />
Chalmers, all of whom are long-standing Team<br />
Leaders giving their time each year to lead<br />
Holidays. Pray for them as their events begin<br />
today at Scoughall and Glenshee.<br />
Phil Wray, together with Martin Boyd, leads the<br />
Mission in Tobermory and Salen on Mull this week.<br />
Pray that it will build on last year’s great start and<br />
that the churches involved will be drawn yet closer<br />
together in their outreach ministries.<br />
Sunday 5 August<br />
Pray that we will always live up to our name of<br />
<strong>Scripture</strong> <strong>Union</strong>. Pray against any complacency<br />
about our faithfulness and commitment to the<br />
Bible. Ask God for renewed submission to God<br />
and his Word in all of our activities.<br />
Pray for a sense of the Lord’s presence in the<br />
two Holidays at Lendrick Muir, led by Elizabeth<br />
McDowall (primary age) and Mark & Karen<br />
Campbell (secondary age). Pray for all involved to<br />
move on in their walk with God.<br />
Monday 6 August<br />
The Mission at Kirkliston Parish Church runs from<br />
Monday to Thursday. Pray for Andy Bathgate as<br />
he leads the team, many of whom are coming<br />
straight from CLAN Gathering. Pray that the<br />
children will be responsive to all that is shared.<br />
Alex Kelly is leading a Youth Outreach Week at<br />
Kirkmuirhill Parish Church in the Clyde Valley.<br />
Pray for the team and the young people who will<br />
attend, and that it will have a positive effect on<br />
the youth ministry in the church.<br />
Tuesday 7 August<br />
The Mission at East Craigs, Edinburgh, begins<br />
today under the leadership of Jackie Ringan. Give<br />
thanks for the local team that has come together<br />
and pray that God would use this week to make<br />
a difference in the lives of many of the children<br />
who attend.<br />
There is a new Mission running at Culloden<br />
Baptist Church in Inverness led by Alasdair &<br />
Eileen Morrison. Please pray for all involved, and<br />
for an encouraging week.<br />

This week Alison Black leads Musselburgh<br />
Mission and Nicola Bruce leads Tranent Mission.<br />
Pray that the different churches involved in each<br />
event will work well together and that many<br />
unchurched children will attend and hear God<br />
speak to them.<br />
Wednesday 8 August<br />
Alex Kelly & Ann Lyall are leading an afternoon<br />
Holiday Club today in the village of Dolphinton,<br />
South Lanarkshire. Pray for strong links with the<br />
community as a result.<br />

Churches in Dunbar have been running their<br />
children’s Holiday Club and youth outreach<br />
programme this week. Pray especially for the<br />
final event tomorrow evening where parents and<br />

Saturday 11 August<br />
The final Holidays of the summer begin today –<br />
at Lendrick Muir led by Jeanette Cossar, and at<br />
Glenshee led by Eleanor Dickson. Pray for a funfilled,<br />
encouraging week.<br />
During the summer, young people at Holiday or<br />
Mission have been encouraged to give money to<br />
the SU International Fundraising Project. This year<br />
the project is supporting Open Bible in Ukraine as<br />
they seek to reach over 10,000 Ukrainian young<br />
people with the Good News of Jesus. Pray for the<br />
work of Open Bible.<br />
Sunday 12 August<br />
Many young people are back home with<br />
their families after having been at a Holiday<br />
or Mission earlier in the summer. Pray for<br />
spiritual protection, and that the seed of God’s<br />
Word would continue to be watered, grow and<br />
bear fruit in their lives.<br />

and Chris Beattie, leading the Burntisland Mission.<br />
Pray that both will know God’s presence and grace<br />
as they lead their respective teams and that the<br />

Monday 13 August<br />
Alex Kelly & Ann Lyall are leading an afternoon<br />
one-day Holiday Club in Quothquan in South<br />
Lanarkshire. Pray for the team and that many<br />
children would attend. Give thanks for the SU<br />
Group which recently started in the village school.<br />
Margaret Benton leads the Inverbervie Mission.<br />
Pray that it will build on last year’s amazing<br />
event, that the evening programme will attract<br />
and challenge many teenagers and that local<br />

Pray for teachers in Lanarkshire today as they<br />
return to school ahead of their pupils. Pray for the<br />
many chaplaincy teams who provide tea, coffee<br />
and cakes to the staff on these busy days. Pray<br />
that this act of kindness would be a real blessing<br />

Several young people join a planning group this<br />
afternoon to plan future Strictly prayer events,<br />
and in particular Strictly Deeper in October. Please<br />
pray for the Lord’s anointing upon them.<br />
The Ross-shire Action Group meets tonight in<br />
Invergordon. Give thanks for the prayer evening<br />
they held in June and pray for them at the start of<br />
another academic year as they look at ways they<br />
can encourage local SU <strong>Scotland</strong> ministries.<br />

The SU Group from Sullivan Upper School in<br />
Northern Ireland is spending a week at Lendrick<br />
Muir. Pray that the young people will draw closer<br />
to God through prayer and fellowship.<br />
Today school term begins for many. As some<br />
children start school for the first time, move<br />
to a new school, or just head back for another<br />
academic year, pray that each of them would<br />

The Big Celebration takes place today at Lendrick<br />
Muir with worship and Bible teaching, summer<br />
updates, the AGM, seminars, commissioning<br />
for another year of ministry, team games and a<br />

Churches in Dunbar have responded to the need<br />
in schools to support children struggling with<br />
literacy. The paired reading programme has been<br />
a way for the church to serve the school and to<br />

Today the New Staff Retreat begins at Alltnacriche,<br />
a time for Bible study, prayer and introduction to<br />

particularly at our centres, that the Lord would<br />

A Bible Alive training course is taking place at<br />

The Lanarkshire Action Group is holding a coffee<br />
morning tomorrow in Stonehouse to raise<br />
funds to subsidise the cost of weekends away to<br />
children in the area. Pray for this venture.<br />
The team of staff and regular volunteers in<br />
Novosibirsk have a planning meeting to map out<br />
activities for the autumn and winter. Pray for them<br />
to have vision and imagination, as team leader<br />
Tanya hopes by now to be on maternity leave!<br />

Cromarty ‘Trailblazers’ are on their annual<br />
weekend visit to Alltnacriche. Pray that God will<br />

Community Church in Stonehaven is at Lendrick<br />
Muir this weekend. Pray for good fellowship and<br />

Give thanks for every volunteer who makes our<br />
weekend events possible, offering themselves<br />
tirelessly as group leaders, chief cooks, assistant<br />
cooks and minibus drivers.<br />
In the Former Soviet Republics, teams run clubs<br />
for children, teenagers, young people and young<br />
families throughout the autumn, winter and<br />
spring. In the cities it is sometimes difficult to get<br />
children together, and it is always difficult to find<br />
enough volunteers. Pray for this ministry.<br />

Give thanks for recent appointments to the<br />
staff team, praying that each relatively new<br />
member of staff would quickly settle in their<br />

Lothian who are visiting Lendrick Muir for the first<br />

The Wheel Trust recently started the ‘Noize’<br />
Youth Club on Friday evenings in Hyndland,<br />
Glasgow, which is seeing regular attendance<br />
and serious questions from the teenagers.<br />

Local School project, which seeks to inspire and<br />
resource local churches to engage with their local<br />
school. Tonight the partnership steering group<br />
meets; do pray for its new chair, and Kathryn<br />

weekend away. Pray for the time they will share<br />

Pray for ‘Focus’, a one-day workshop event<br />
organised by Andrew Thompson, Alan Myles<br />
and the Moray Action Group aimed at a broad<br />
audience, including the non-churchgoing public.<br />
Tony Watkins of the Damaris Trust will speak<br />
today on ‘The Art and Soul of Cinema’.<br />
The team in <strong>Scripture</strong> <strong>Union</strong> Tajikistan face<br />
special difficulties because of the poor economic<br />
situation in the country. Clubs are often<br />

churches and individuals to an appeal for financial<br />

tonight. Their agenda will include looking<br />
at fundraising to meet budget needs and<br />
supporting the new J12 worker, Gordon McKie.<br />
Friday 28 September<br />
At Alltnacriche this weekend Colin Carmichael is<br />
leading an event for P5-P7 pupils from across the<br />
Highlands. Give thanks for those attending, for<br />
the volunteers on the team and the provision of a<br />
great centre to be based at.<br />
Eaglesham Parish Church Youth Group and<br />
Bearsden Cross Church Bible Class are among the<br />
groups at Lendrick Muir this weekend. Pray that<br />
this weekend away would strengthen the regular<br />
work of these youth groups.<br />
Saturday 29 September<br />
Give thanks for the regular early morning prayer<br />
meetings that are held in the SU <strong>Scotland</strong><br />
Dumfries office on the first Wednesday of every<br />
month. Pray that those who gather would know<br />
God’s heart for this region.<br />
Pray for an increase in the number of Roman<br />
Catholic schools being registered for prayer with<br />
Pray for Schools <strong>Scotland</strong>.<br />
Sunday 30 September<br />
Pray for the ministry of our centres at<br />
Alltnacriche and Lendrick Muir, particularly<br />
giving thanks for a generous response to<br />
the Lendrick Muir ‘Raise the Roof’ appeal to<br />
enable essential roof and related repairs over<br />
the next 3 years.<br />
Today, Pray Any Way is taking place in Aberdeen<br />
for the first time. Pray for much encouragement<br />
for the families attending and for a lasting impact<br />
on children’s lives.<br />
Tomorrow, Richard Taylor will join around 150<br />
P7s from the Dunbar cluster at their transition<br />
camp at Aberfoyle. Pray for Richard as he delivers<br />
sessions based on the Parable of the Wise and<br />
Foolish Builders, that the children may consider<br />
God as a foundation stone for their lives.<br />
