MEXICO’S “CONSULTIVO CONSEJO” PROGRAM
CHILE’S ANNUAL RETREAT
Endeavor Mexico builds a board of advisors for each of its High-Impact Entrepreneurs.
This board, usually comprised of 3–5 VentureCorps members, a separate Endeavor
Entrepreneur, and one Endeavor staff member, meets quarterly to provide strategic
advice for entrepreneurs. Most Endeavor Entrepreneurs are not in a position to have
a formal Board of Directors, but as their businesses expand, discussing key growth
issues with an outside body of individuals is invaluable.

Dan Schwarzblat founded Chilim Balam
in 1995 when he was just 22 years old.
Since then, he has changed the way
Mexicans purchase their candy by putting
candy stores in malls and offering over 500
varieties of sweet Mexican delicacies. With
Endeavor’s support, Chilim Balam has
already doubled its number of employees
and revenues and has opened stores in
35 malls.
As a young entrepreneur in a complicated
industry, Dan needed some strong mentoring.
Endeavor formed a non-acting board
of directors that meets four times a year
in person. The board includes a VP of
Expansion from Starbucks International,
an HR VP from Wrigley Mexico, and a
partner at Advent Capital. Together, they
have helped Dan set the ambitious goal
of doubling the number of Chilim Balam
stores in the next two years. They have
not only provided expertise on expansion,
human resources, and financing, but also
given Dan the confidence to THINK BIG
about his business.
WITH ENDEAVOR’S SUPPORT, CHILIM BALAM HAS ALREADY
DOUBLED ITS NUMBER OF EMPLOYEES AND REVENUES AND
HAS OPENED STORES IN 35 MALLS.
Every January, Endeavor Chile’s entrepreneurs, board members, and VentureCorps
attend a three-day retreat, hosted by an Endeavor Chile Board Member. In addition to
training seminars and team building exercises, each Endeavor Entrepreneur is treated
like a candidate all over again. A team of Endeavor Chile board members grill and then
offer constructive feedback to the entrepreneurs as they face new and different
challenges than when they were initially selected. In this way, Endeavor’s services
are matching the new demands of later-stage businesses.

than just an online job site. Trabajando.com
offers a wide range of services within the
labor market, developing personalized
recruitment process software, hosting job
fairs and HR exhibitions, and offering
a human resources consulting service.
Trabajando.com has a client base of more
than 82,000 companies and 3 million users
in the region.
As soon as Felipe & Juan Pablo became
Endeavor Entrepreneurs, Endeavor Chile
was ready to help out. So far, so good as
Trabajando.com has already doubled its
revenue, tripled its workforce, and secured
a $15m investment from Santander, a
world-class Spanish bank.
