Possession (VH)<br />

Regular; Resisted by IQ<br />

Like Control Person - except the victim is unconscious throughout the<br />

“possession,” and the caster has full access to the subject’s memories,<br />

skills, and spells. While in the subject’s body, the caster has his own skills<br />

and spells, and may use all the subject’s skills, spells, and memories as<br />

though they were his own (the subject’s physical skills are at -1). The<br />

casters own body lies unconscious during the spell, and must be<br />

safeguarded.<br />

Duration: 1 minute.<br />

Cost: 10 to cast; 4 to maintain.<br />

Time to cast: 1 minute.<br />

Prerequisite: Magery and either Control Person or Beast Possession.<br />

Item: Cap, crown, helmet or other headgear. Usable only by a mage.<br />

Energy cost to create: 2,500.<br />

Permanent Possession (VH)<br />

Regular;<br />

Resisted by IQ<br />

Like Possession - but the caster remains in the body of the subject until he<br />

chooses to leave, or is “exorcised” by an appropriate spell (see below). The<br />

caster’s own body is in Suspended Animation (see p. 50) while the spell<br />

continues. If the caster’s body dies, the spell is broken. Whenever the subject<br />

body takes damage, the caster must roll on his own body’s HT, or take the<br />

same damage. If the subject body dies, the caster must roll vs. HT or die<br />

himself!<br />

Duration: Indefinite (could be permanent).<br />

Cost: 30.<br />

Time to cast: 5 minutes.<br />

Prerequisite: Possession and Magery 3.<br />

Item: Cap, crown, helmet or other headgear. Usable only by a mage.<br />

Energy cost to create: 3,000.<br />

Exchange Bodies (VH)<br />

Regular; Resisted by IQ<br />

The caster permanently exchanges bodies with the subject. The subject<br />

may be any living creature. The only way this spell can be reversed, once<br />

it has been cast, is to cast it again; Exorcism or other anti-magic will not<br />

work. The attributes of ST, DX and HT, as well as all physical advantages<br />

and disadvantages, go with the body; IQ, memory, personality, and all<br />

skills and spells go with the mind.<br />

Note: If (for instance) an old wizard switches into a strong young<br />

body, his “point value” as a character has increased, and the GM may<br />

require him to pay the same number of character points as if he had<br />

suddenly “upgraded” his original body that much! To help keep this under<br />

control, this spell is probably one that should require some rare spell<br />

materials (see p. 9).<br />

Duration: Permanent.<br />

Cost: 120.<br />

Time to cast: 1 hour.<br />

Prerequisite: Permanent Possession, Soul Jar (p. 73).<br />

Exorcism<br />

Regular; Resisted by spell on subject<br />

Ends any Soul-Rider, Control, or Possession spell (or their animal<br />

equivalents) affecting the subject.<br />

Cost: 10.<br />

Time to cast: 10 seconds.<br />

Prerequisite: Soul Rider or Possession or (GM’s option) “holy”<br />

religious status.<br />

Item: Staff or wand. Usable only by a mage. Item must touch subject<br />

of exorcism. Energy cost to create: 300.<br />

Lend Language<br />

Regular<br />

Subject gains a language at caster’s level or subject’s IQ+4 whichever<br />

is less. The caster must know the language in question.<br />

Duration: 1 minute.<br />

Cost: 3 to cast; 1 to maintain.<br />

Time to cast: 3 seconds.<br />

Prerequisite: Mind-Sending.<br />

Borrow Language<br />

Regular<br />

Caster gains a language at subject’s level or at caster’s IQ+4<br />

whichever is less. The subject must know the language in question.<br />

Duration: 1 minute.<br />

Cost: 3 to cast; 1 to maintain.<br />

Time to cast: 3 seconds.<br />

Prerequisite: Lend Language.<br />

Lend Skill<br />

Regular<br />

Subject gains a skill at (stat)+4 or increases his existing skill by 4<br />

levels - whichever is more. Subject’s skill cannot become higher than<br />

caster’s skill. Caster must know the skill in question (either normally or by<br />

Borrow Skill, below). Will not work on languages or spells.<br />

Duration: 1 minute.<br />

Cost: 3 to cast; 2 to maintain.<br />

Time to cast: 3 seconds.<br />

Prerequisites: Mind-Sending, IQ 12+.<br />

Borrow Skill<br />

Regular<br />

The caster gains a skill at (stat)+4 or increases his existing skill by 4<br />

levels -whichever is more. Caster’s skill cannot become higher than<br />

subject’s skill. Subject must be willing, and know the skill in question.<br />

Will not work on languages or spells.<br />

Duration: 1 minute.<br />

Cost: 4 to cast; 3 to maintain.<br />

Time to cast: 3 seconds.<br />

Prerequisites: Lend Skill.<br />

Gift of Tongues (VH)<br />

Regular<br />

Lets the subject (intelligent creatures only) speak and understand any<br />

language with a skill equal to his IQ. Will not provide speech or hearing to<br />

one who lacks these abilities.<br />

Duration: 1 minute.<br />

Cost: 4 to cast; 2 to maintain.<br />

Prerequisites: Borrow Language; 3 languages at skill 10+.<br />

Item: Headgear or jewelry. Works on wearer only, and only for certain<br />

languages. Energy cost to create: 300 per language included (must be<br />

known to creator).<br />

Gift of Letters (VH)<br />

Regular<br />

As above, but for written words only. The subject must already be<br />

literate.<br />

Duration: 1 minute.<br />

Cost: 4 to cast; 2 to maintain.<br />

Prerequisites: Borrow Language; 3 languages at skill 10+.<br />

Item: Headgear or jewelry. Works on wearer only, and only for certain<br />

languages. Energy cost to create: 300 per language included (must be<br />

known to creator).<br />
