Alumni Homecoming Event
It all started out as an idea when the
SP Alumni Local Universities Chapter
was formed in February 2007. The
Committee comprising 6 members from
three local universities thought it would
be a good idea to invite alumni back to
SP for a homecoming event. It almost
did not happen.
The original date for the gathering was to
have been in May 2007. It was supposed
to be an alfresco dinner event on the
grounds of the Student Hub@Moberly.

local dishes. There were some delays with
the renovation work at the proposed
venue and the event was pushed back to
June or July. In the end, the Committee
decided that it will be wiser to change
the venue so that the event could take
place sooner.

the Ballroom of the SPGG (Singapore
Polytechnic Graduates’ Guild) Clubhouse
in the evening.
The marketing for the event was
launched via email as well as through
personal selling. The idea was to get as
many undergraduates who are SP alumni
studying in the local universities to sign
up as possible. The event was deliberately
priced affordably as undergraduates are
not known to have a lot of spare cash.
After a few meetings to tie down the
arrangements, the day finally arrived.
Finally, it was decided that the first
Alumni Homecoming to be organised by
the SP Alumni Local Universities Chapter
