<strong>Part</strong> <strong>32</strong>: <strong>Seafarer</strong> Certification<br />
STCW Code by an accepted means of<br />
demonstrating competence under rule <strong>32</strong>.180 or<br />
equivalent .<br />
(d) Final examinations has passed any final examinations that the<br />
Director may require, or equivalents.<br />
(e) Seagoing service has approved seagoing service involving, at a<br />
minimum, completion of the seagoing service<br />
described in regulation III/5 of the Annex to<br />
STCW.<br />

ancillary certificates<br />
has demonstrated the following ancillary<br />
competencies:<br />
(a) STCW basic training<br />

Medical and eyesight<br />
requirements<br />
holds the following ancillary certificates or<br />

(a) a first aid certificate<br />
meets the applicable requirements of <strong>Part</strong> 34<br />
<strong>32</strong>.72 Privileges of Able seafarer engine<br />
The privileges of a certificate of proficiency as AB Engine are to perform functions as a crew<br />
member at a support level in a manned engine room or a periodically unmanned engine<br />
room on a seagoing ship powered by main propulsion machinery of 750kW propulsion power<br />
or more in any operating area.<br />
<strong>32</strong>.73 Electro-technical rating (ETR)<br />
(1) This is a certificate of proficiency that corresponds to the STCW certificate under regulation<br />
III/7 of STCW.<br />
(2) The eligibility requirements relating to Electro-technical rating (ETR) are the provision of<br />
proof of the matters set out in column 3 of the following table that correspond to an item in<br />
column 2:<br />
Requirement for proof that an applicant:<br />
(a) Age is at least 18 years of age.<br />
(b) Prior <strong>certification</strong> none.<br />
(c) Core competencies has demonstrated, at the level prescribed in<br />
STCW, the competencies in section A-III/7 of the<br />
STCW Code by an accepted means of<br />
demonstrating competence under rule <strong>32</strong>.180 or<br />
equivalent.<br />
(d) Final examinations has passed any final examinations that the<br />
Director may require, or equivalents.<br />
(e) Seagoing service has completed approved seagoing service<br />
involving, at a minimum, completion of the<br />
seagoing service described in regulation III/7 of<br />
the Annex to STCW.<br />
(f) Ancillary competencies and<br />
ancillary certificates<br />
has demonstrated the following ancillary<br />
competencies:<br />
(a) STCW basic training.<br />
holds the following ancillary certificates or<br />
equivalents:<br />
(a) a first aid certificate.<br />
