<strong>32</strong>.160 Privileges of Mate fishing ship 24m and over, unlimited<br />

The privileges of a certificate of competency as MFV-U are to perform the functions of an<br />

officer in charge of a navigational watch on fishing ships of 24m or more in any operating<br />

area.<br />

<strong>32</strong>.161 Skipper fishing ship between 24m and 45m limited waters (SFV)<br />

(1) This is a certificate of competency that corresponds to the STCW-F certificate under<br />

regulation II/3 of STCW-F.<br />

(2) The eligibility requirements relating to Skipper fishing ship between 24m and 45m limited<br />

waters (SFV) are the provision of proof of the matters set out in column 3 of the following<br />

table that correspond to an item in column 2:<br />

Requirement for proof that an applicant:<br />

(b) Prior <strong>certification</strong> holds a certificate of competency as Mate<br />

fishing ship 24–45m – limited waters or<br />

equivalent.<br />

(c) Core competencies has demonstrated at management level, the<br />

competencies described in the appendix to<br />

regulation II/3 of STCW-F by an accepted<br />

means of demonstrating competence under<br />

rule <strong>32</strong>.180 or equivalent.<br />

(d) Final examination has passed any final examinations that the<br />

Director may require, or equivalents.<br />

(e) Seagoing service has completed approved seagoing service<br />

involving, at a minimum, completion of the<br />

seagoing service described in regulation II/3 of<br />

STCW-F.<br />

Ancillary competencies<br />

and ancillary<br />

certificates<br />

has demonstrated the following ancillary<br />

competencies:<br />

(a) STCW-F basic training:<br />

requirements<br />

holds the following ancillary certificates or<br />

equivalents:<br />

(a) general radio telephone operator’s<br />

certificate:<br />

(b) a first aid certificate.<br />

meets the applicable requirements of <strong>Part</strong> 34.<br />

<strong>32</strong>.162 Privileges of Skipper fishing ship between 24m and 45m limited waters<br />

The privileges of a certificate of competency as SFV are:<br />

(a) to perform the functions of a master on ships of 24 metres length or more but less than<br />

45 metres length operating in limited waters; and<br />

(b) the privileges of master less than 500GT restricted to coastal voyages.<br />

<strong>32</strong>.163 Skipper fishing ship 24m and over unlimited (Skipper >24m unlimited)<br />

(1) This is a certificate of competency that corresponds to the STCW-F certificate under<br />

regulation II/1 of STCW-F.<br />
