32.160 Privileges of Mate fishing ship 24m and over, unlimited
The privileges of a certificate of competency as MFV-U are to perform the functions of an
officer in charge of a navigational watch on fishing ships of 24m or more in any operating
area.
32.161 Skipper fishing ship between 24m and 45m limited waters (SFV)
(1) This is a certificate of competency that corresponds to the STCW-F certificate under
regulation II/3 of STCW-F.
(2) The eligibility requirements relating to Skipper fishing ship between 24m and 45m limited
waters (SFV) are the provision of proof of the matters set out in column 3 of the following
table that correspond to an item in column 2:
Requirement for proof that an applicant:
(b) Prior certification holds a certificate of competency as Mate
fishing ship 24–45m – limited waters or
equivalent.
(c) Core competencies has demonstrated at management level, the
competencies described in the appendix to
regulation II/3 of STCW-F by an accepted
means of demonstrating competence under
rule 32.180 or equivalent.
(d) Final examination has passed any final examinations that the
Director may require, or equivalents.
(e) Seagoing service has completed approved seagoing service
involving, at a minimum, completion of the
seagoing service described in regulation II/3 of
STCW-F.

Ancillary competencies

32.162 Privileges of Skipper fishing ship between 24m and 45m limited waters
The privileges of a certificate of competency as SFV are:
(a) to perform the functions of a master on ships of 24 metres length or more but less than
45 metres length operating in limited waters; and
(b) the privileges of master less than 500GT restricted to coastal voyages.
32.163 Skipper fishing ship 24m and over unlimited (Skipper >24m unlimited)
(1) This is a certificate of competency that corresponds to the STCW-F certificate under
regulation II/1 of STCW-F.
