Alumni Advisory Council Looks to the Next 100
SUNY Delhi’s Alumni Advisory Council has been re-energized with new members and a
renewed focus on its mission—to represent SUNY Delhi’s 35,000 alumni in a vital association
that partners with the college to build a bright and solid future.
The Council hopes to achieve this mission by:
• Stimulating interest and support in alumni and college activities
• Serving as ambassadors for the college by encouraging student enrollment and career placement
• Supporting fundraising
• Making recommendations that further its mission
The Alumni Advisory Council is proud to report on last year’s achievements, which include:
• Developing a new “Chart of Works,” which established Executive, Nominating and Working
Committees for events and fundraising development
• Hosting three fall events: The Capital Region Reception, co-hosted by Maria Jones ’99; a
Rochester reception in honor of Dean Dominic Morales, co-hosted by the New York State
Turfgrass Association; and “SUNY Delhi Centennial Salute to Veterans,” co-hosted by SUNY
Delhi Veterans Services, the NYS Division of Veteran’s Affairs and the Delhi American Legion
• Planning the SUNY Delhi Centennial Alumni Celebration: Not Your Average Alumni Weekend,
May 31 - June 2 (see pages 10-11 for details)
• Sponsoring a Freshman Orientation activity and establishing an action plan for further outreach
to students on behalf of the Alumni Association
• Awarding $10,000 in scholarships for the academic year to 10 freshmen in various majors who
have financial need
• Establishing the Alumni Centennial Scholarships to provide an additional $10,000 for upper
classmen; awards will be made annually to four students seeking a bachelor’s degree in any
major, three second-year Liberal Arts and Sciences majors, two Honors Program students of
any major, and one exemplary student employee
• Sponsoring a direct mail campaign to 10,000 alumni seeking support for The Delhi Fund and
student scholarships
• Beginning an overhaul of the alumni website to offer an alumni directory, enhanced social
network connectivity, more giving options and online registration for events. Watch the
progress at www.delhi.edu/alumni
• Welcoming five new members; the Council now represents the class years of 1962-2014 and
includes two student representatives
