The five stages of girlhood
Imagine a girlhood where all five stages<br />
go badly……..<br />
• Life is uncertain, and nobody loves me.<br />
• New ideas and things are frightening.<br />
• People can’t be trusted, and they are impossible to get along<br />
with.<br />
• I have nothing of value inside me, I am a nobody.<br />
• Growing up is too hard. I don’t want to be an adult. I don’t<br />
have any power or say or choice in what happens to me.<br />

Personal Development Program
Introducing Kindilan OECC<br />
• Kindilan is located at Redland Bay.<br />
• We are situated on 220 acres of wildlife reserve and natural bush land that adjoins 750 acres<br />
conservation area.<br />
• We have very clean and comfortable accommodation for 176 guests and a range of campsites.<br />
• We employ professional Outdoor Education Instructors, including Cert IV OR graduates, registered<br />
teachers, staff with Masters and PHDs in the field. All staff hold current Blue Cards and are trained<br />
in First Aid and “Keeping Children Safe”.<br />
• We provide healthy food options and adhere to the Food Safety Act (2010)

Program Safety<br />
• We make time for safety briefings at the beginning of each activity.<br />
• Experienced and qualified instructors stay with the group for the duration of the program.<br />
• We have comprehensive safety procedures and risk management plans for the site and every<br />
activity.*<br />

Accommodation Facilities<br />
• Koona package has 42 beds (twin share) and large conference hall<br />
• Kindilan House package has 50 beds (bunk style dormitory) with large<br />
conference hall<br />
• Kinta and Brownie Cottage are fully contained buildings that accommodate 32<br />
people each<br />
• Ngulu and Kantarli are smaller self contained buildings that accommodate 8-12<br />
people Kantarli has air-conditioning/heating

• To tailor a program to meet the students and schools’ needse student and school<br />
• To provide challenges for the students so they can learn new things about themselves and others<br />

• To provide scrumptious meals that are healthy and nutritious<br />
• To encourage the students to have heaps of fun!
Important <strong>Information</strong><br />
• All participants must wear closed-toed shoes at all times. Sandals<br />
are only permitted with water activities<br />
• All participants must provide a 2 litre bottle of water, sunscreen and<br />
a sunhat<br />
• Kindilan will supply all camping equipment including tents (3<br />
person), Trangia stoves and sleeping mats for overnight campout<br />
• All participants must provide a rain jacket for wet weather and extra<br />
garbage bags to carry their personal gear up to the campsites<br />
• Kindilan requires all medical and special dietary requirements<br />
submitted for processing
Important <strong>Information</strong><br />
We ask that no-one take mobile phones, lollies, I-Pods or other valuable goods on camp.<br />
A graffiti fine is in place at all times at Kindilan. Any vandalism or tagging to property<br />
(including trees) will have a $110.00 fine per tag or incident.
Why are outcomes so strong?<br />
Kindilan programs are sequenced and with facilitation, enable young<br />
people of all ages to discover the skills which can provide all kinds of<br />
creative solutions. Skills such as concentration, retention, conceptual<br />
understanding and self-awareness. All can be transferred to a social<br />
setting, educational and family situations.<br />
Research has proven the benefits of outdoor education for increasing<br />
self esteem and positive behaviours. They have all been successfully<br />
used as an educational tool, and have been used therapeutically with<br />
youth for decades.
