Queensland Core Skills<br />

(QCS) Test<br />

• Is a state-wide test available for Year <strong>12</strong> students<br />

• Is based in common elements of the Queensland senior<br />

curriculum (CCEs)<br />

• Consists of four papers using three modes of response:<br />

extended writing (WT), multiple choice (MCI & MCII), and<br />

short response (SRI)<br />

• Must be taken to be eligible for OPs and FPs<br />

• Used for scaling SAIs to calculate l OPs and FPs<br />

• Provides each student taking it with a result for the<br />

Senior Certificate


The Common Curriculum<br />

Elements (CCEs)<br />

• The QCS Test tests 49 common elements that are<br />

the threads of the Queensland senior curriculum<br />

For e.g., analysing, synthesising, translating from<br />

one form to another, graphing, perceiving patterns<br />

• Specific knowledge of Year <strong>12</strong> subjects is not<br />

tested<br />

• The test assumes basic levels of general<br />

knowledge and vocabulary and a Year 10<br />

knowledge of mathematical operations

<strong>St</strong> Aidan’s students continue to achieve individual<br />

academic excellence<br />

OP 1 – 5 29.2% (<strong>St</strong>ate = 18.3%)<br />

OP 1 – 10 58.4% (<strong>St</strong>ate = 45.33%)<br />

OP 1 – 15 84.07% (<strong>St</strong>ate = 73.16%)


Exit results<br />

• In 2009, more than 30% received an A on the<br />

QCS Test (state females - 15.7%)<br />

• 95-100% students t receive tertiary ti offers<br />

Aidan’s long term financial future by sourcing, raising and managing funds for major projects<br />

and the continued improvement of the school environment.
