SQUIRT TUTORING GRANT - St Aidan's Anglican Girls School

STAR TUTORING GRANT
Star Tutoring (Formally Squirt Tutoring) was established in 2001 by a group of Old
Girls as a tutoring service for St Aidan’s students. As Old Girls we have appreciated
the opportunity to maintain our links with St Aidan’s. We feel that St Aidan’s has
enabled us to develop the confidence and skills required to succeed in a diverse
range of areas.
In recognition of this we wanted to contribute back to the school in a way that might
help current students to experience these same opportunities. Each of the tutors
contributes a very small percentage of their wages to a fund, which is then matched
dollar for dollar by the Tutoring Service. Collectively, we are able to accumulate
funds each semester that we would like to give St Aidan’s girls to help them realise
their dreams.
We are able to offer a grant to one student, or smaller amounts to a number of
students, to enable them to put this money towards a school related venture. This
grant is available to students in the senior school and is not limited to girls involved in
Star Tutoring. To reflect the fact that our talents lie in a diverse range of areas
students may apply for projects or endeavours as diverse as attendance at
workshops, travel to inter-state competitions, attendance at youth conferences,
music lessons, even capital for a small business venture. This list is certainly not
exhaustive so let your imagination run wild!
The application process involves the following steps:
1. Fill in the attached Application Form. Note that if you are part of a group,
please nominate a representative to make the application and attend an
interview.
2. Submit a word processed document of no more than 600 words that
addresses the following points:
� Please tell us something about yourself and your involvement in school
and extra-curricular activities, particularly if it relates to your application.
� Please detail how you will use the grant if it is awarded to you and when
the money is required.
� Please outline the amount of money you will need in total, what it is to be
spent on and what percentage of that amount you hope to receive through
this grant.
3. Return your application to Mrs Mendham by Friday 26 th October. A shortlist
of applicants will be asked to attend an interview so that we can discuss your
application further.
