Dr. Allison Foil, a 1998 graduate of LSU SVM, is
a horse enthusiast. In addition to owning and
racing horses, she also is the owner and practicing
veterinarian at Foil Equine and Associates in Ocala,
Florida, where she specializes in equine sports
medicine.
The first thing I think of when I want to donate
money is the Vet School . . .

Allison is among the numerous alumni who are
motivated to give back to their alma mater. She
recently helped out in a big way by providing funding
for the custom-made table needed to allow clinicians
to utilize LSU SVM’s Computed Tomography (CT) unit
for equine patients. The 16-slice CT scanner is so fast
that the skull or extremity can be examined in less
than 30 seconds, reducing anesthesia time. With the
addition of this table, LSU is only one of a few facilities
in the United States with this type of diagnostic imaging
technology for horses.
“The first thing I think of when I want to donate money
is the Vet School,” Allison said, “and I’m glad y’all
came up with the CT table idea because I wanted my
donation to apply to something that I do.”
Baton Rouge is home and she comes back to LSU
SVM for a visit now and then. “It was really neat to
go back last summer and tour the School. It felt and
seemed the same as it did 10 years ago. And I’m
looking forward to coming back and seeing the table the
next time I’m there.”
Allison believes in supporting LSU SVM because of
what the School provided for her. “I owe a lot to LSU for
my education,” she said. “I got a great foundation, and
the faculty really supported me when I was applying for
my large animal internship. If I could, I would give more
to raise their salaries.” ■
