The Holy Qur’an
In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Ever Merciful
بِسْمِ‏ هللاِ‏ الرَّحْ‏ مَٰنِ‏ الرَّحِيمِ‏
79. Observe Prayer at the declining and
paling of the sun on to the darkness of
the night, and the recitation of the
Qur’an in Prayer at dawn. Verily, the
recitation of the Qur’an at dawn is
specially acceptable to God.
(17:79)
Hadith
O Allah, bless Muhammad and his people, as You did bless Ibrahim and his people—You are indeed the Praiseworthy, the Exalted.
O Allah, prosper Muhammad and his people, as You did prosper Ibrahim and his people—You are indeed the Praiseworthy, the Exalted.
Amar bin Shuaib heard from his father on the authourity of his grandfather that the
Holy Prophet said:
“Advise your children to perform the prayers when they reach the age of seven. When they
reach the age of ten, you should be strict with them in this matter, and you should also
make them sleep in separate beds.

What is the Salat? It is the supplication made humbly in the form of glorification and
praise of God, proclaiming His holiness, seeking His forgiveness and calling down His
blessings on the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him). When you are
occupied with the Salat do not confine yourselves only to the prescribed prayers like
heedless people whose Salat is all formality and has no reality behind it. When you observe
the Salat, then besides the prescribed prayers taught by the Holy
Qur’an and by the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be on him), you should
set forth your supplications in your respective vernaculars so that your hearts may be
moved by your humility and your earnestness.
