BASKETBALL
Hustle is the key as Wildcats
end up with a record of 21 ~3
In his second year as head coach, Wilt Martin
used his famous full-court press and fast break
basketball to produce a 21-3 record. The Wildcats
were taller than many of the opponents they faced
and used this to the best possible advantage. Outside
shooting was a factor in the 1970 Cats' offensive
threat, accounting for nearly half of the total
points. Sticky defense held opponents to a 51-point
average as the W ildcats averaged 64 points.
In the County Invitational tournament the Wildcats
placed second after defeating Rosebud and
Pangburn. At the Christian High School tournament
in Searcy this year the vVildcats walked away
with first place after defeating a tough Dallas team
in the finals. John Vines and Tim Ramsey made
the all-tourney team. The Wildcats suffered defeats
in the County and District before the finals.
BOUNDING above the hands of the opponent senior Joh n Vi nes
adds his two point contribution in a drive for a victory.
