A retrospective dedicated to Roman Polanski’s early films
during the festival is accompanied by this fascinating display
of posters selected from Roman Polanski, Actor, Director,
an exhibition assembled and presented by the Museum of
Cinematography in Lodz in 2009. The exhibition will be
showing film posters from all over the world from Roman
Polanski’s films, which he directed and in which he
appeared as an actor.

Having the opportunity to travel, and to
photograph, for me to share the experience is an
extension of the journey. Taking infra-red black
and white photographs removes the distraction
of aesthetic beauty that colour provides,
replacing it with a fantastical interpretation.
This exhibition thus conjures an alternative
vision, revealing hidden aspects of some
European, African and American scenes.

Sergio Strizzi began his career as a photo journalist and moved into the
film business as a stills photographer in 1952. Since then, he has worked
with Italy’s finest directors:
Antonioni, Blasetti, De Sica, Germi, Monicelli, Petri, Rosi and Soldati,
as well as Benigni, Tornatore, Scola, and Cavani. His work with non-
Italian directors includes some of the James Bond films and projects
with directors such as Jospeh Losey, John Huston, Peter Yates and
Terry Gilliam. Strizzi was Audrey Hepburn’s photographer of choice and
is considered to be one of still photography’s greatest exponents. The
exhibition coincides with the Italian Film Festival at Riverside Studios.
