• Providing state planning assistance to local governments for priority funding areas.
• Allocating funds for revitalization projects in older neighborhoods.
• Promoting initiatives for development of waterfront destinations.
• Changing the funding formula for open space to provide more funds for maintenance of the parks, which are
already an asset to our community.
• Providing funding for Eastern Boulevard revitalization, in accord with the Essex Urban Design Assistance
Team recommendations.
• Developing and expanding the MARC train stop in Middle River, including facilities and links to other modes
of transportation to take full advantage of Route 43 development.
• Supporting local government in preparing for the opportunities Base Realignment and Closure will bring,
including job and housing demands, in order to promote private investment.
• Changing the funding formula to provide more money for maintenance and support of older schools.
• Providing funds for after-school programs to meet education and childcare needs.
• Supporting workforce development through funding and incentive programs including scholarships.
Membership in the Chesapeake Gateway Chamber of Commerce is open to any business, school, church or
nonprofit organization interested in promoting business and economic development in the area.
