Essex, Middle River and White Marsh are all unincorporated communities and census-designated places. As members of Baltimore County, the communities benefit from the county’s outstanding public services. The Baltimore County Fire Department provides fire protection, emergency medical aid and emergency rescue to the county’s 754,000 citizens. The department includes more than 1,000 paid, trained emergency response personnel, housed at 25 career fire stations. These career responders work at fire and rescue scenes alongside volunteer firefighters from the county’s 33 volunteer fire stations. The mission of the Baltimore County Sheriff’s Office is to maintain the integrity of and provide service to the Baltimore County Circuit Court; to provide assistance and support to the citizens of Baltimore County; and to cooperate with all law enforcement agencies in their quest to maintain order in our community. Through a strong community presence, caring education system and cooperative efforts, the Sheriff’s Office protects the citizens of Baltimore County.
