affiliated plants in China, which feature quality
control technologies. Regarding rice, we import
from the U.S., Australia and Thailand for the Food
Agency. And from the U.S. and Australia we
import wheat, a product that Japan imports to
satisfy over 90% of domestic demand, and pulses
for use as raw materials. With regard to
beverages, we import specially selected wines
and other beverages from France, Italy and
Germany.

Stable woodchip supply
We import and sell wood chips from North
America and Australia for leading paper
manufacturers, while handling domestic sales
and the export and import of paper products. As
a step towards developing new business, we also
export used paper and corrugated cardboard
packaging materials for computer makers. And
with an aim to securing a stable supply of wood
chips, we are participating in an afforestation
project in Tasmania, Australia.
