• “Table Game Marketing in a Mature Gaming Market”<br />

by Mr Jim Kilby, University <strong>of</strong> Nevada, Las Vegas<br />

Tailor-Made<br />

An EDP was held for the second-year running for<br />

Yoshinoya Fast Food (HK) Ltd, to give the company’s<br />

shop managers an opportunity to update their skills. A<br />

total <strong>of</strong> 31 participated in the programme, conducted<br />

once a week over a period <strong>of</strong> six weeks in June and July.<br />

SHTM staff presented the sessions, namely: Marketing<br />

Management (Ms Ada Lo, Lecturer), Customer Relations<br />

The Yoshinoya programme is a prime example <strong>of</strong> SHTM’s<br />

EDP. Courses are tailor-made to the needs <strong>of</strong> individual<br />

companies in hospitality and tourism-related businesses.<br />

Summer <strong>School</strong><br />

A certificate presentation ceremony took place over<br />

lunch at the Promenade Restaurant <strong>of</strong> the Harbour<br />

Plaza Metropolis on the final day.<br />

Thirty-four students from Korea’s Jeonju University and<br />

Sejong University took part in the Summer Study<br />

Programme, held in July. Topics in the two-week event<br />

included career development in the industry, dining<br />

etiquette, English in hospitality and tourism, practical<br />

food course, employee motivation, the Korean wave,<br />

e-business, life as a flight attendant, service quality and<br />

customer satisfaction in hotels, cultural tourism,<br />

leadership and team building, and marketing<br />

communications. Sessions were presented by SHTM<br />

staff, namely Pr<strong>of</strong> Kaye Chon, Ms Alice To, Mr Paul<br />

Penfold, Mr Tony Chu, Dr Simon Wong, Pr<strong>of</strong> Amy<br />

Chan, Dr Norman Au, Ms Dorothy Yim, Dr Myong Jae<br />

Lee, Pr<strong>of</strong> Bob McKercher, Mr Alan Wong and Mr Tony<br />

Tse. Students also enjoyed a field trip to Ocean Park<br />

and Stanley Market and free time when they could<br />

explore Hong Kong on their own.<br />
