Child Studies Child Studies has been introduced this year to Year 9 as an elective and students involved were delighted to welcome Mrs Megan Elliot with baby Levi and Mrs Andrea Stig (due to give birth to her first child any day) to their classroom on Thursday. Both Megan and Andrea shared wonderful insight on preparation for parenting, including setting up a nursery. Levi charmed everyone with his gorgeous smile and his antics in the bath, when Megan demonstrated the skill of bathing and changing a baby. Lots of laughter and splashing involved. Thank you Andrea, Megan, and baby Levi for allowing us to share your experiences and provide us with a very valuable and unique learning experience. Lyn Mulholland Child Studies Teacher 6
ST PHILIP’S CHRISTIAN COLLEGE ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS - YEAR 7 and YEAR 11 ENTRY 2015 The College’s Scholarship Scheme, established in 1992, provides for scholarships covering a significant reduction of up to 50% on tuition fees. Scholarships are awarded to students entering Year 7 or Year 11 in 2015 on the basis of results in the C.S.T.P. placement examination and an interview with the Principal. YEAR 7 ENTRY 2015 - Scholarships are awarded covering a reduction of up to 50% on tuition fees from Year 7 to Year 10 inclusive, subject to continued effort on the part of the student. YEAR 11 ENTRY 2015 - EXAMINATIONS - Scholarships are awarded covering a reduction of up to 50% on tuition fees for the two years of Senior School, subject to continued effort on the part of the student. The Australian Council for Educational Research produces the Cooperative Scholarship Testing Program (C.S.T.P.) for Year 7 and Year 11 entry. Year 6 2014 students sit for the C.S.T.P. Level 1 Exam which consists of four tests covering areas of Written Expression (two tests), Humanities - Comprehension and Interpretation, and Mathematics. Year 10 2014 students sit for the C.S.T.P. Level 3 Exam which consists of four tests covering areas of Written Expression (two tests), Humanities - Comprehension and Interpretation, Mathematics and Science. Multiple choice and written answers are required. Exam results will not be known for four to six weeks after the exam date. Scholarships will be awarded as soon as possible after receipt of results. SHOULD I APPLY? Applicants must score in the top 20% to be eligible for a Scholarship. Only a small number of Scholarships are given each year and this number is determined by the number of applications and the quality of the results. The Scholarship Program is to recognise and promote excellence in scholarship. Scholarship examinations will be conducted at the College on: SATURDAY 1st MARCH 2014 COMMENCING AT 9.00AM.
