This is a lecture and workshop covering state-<strong>of</strong>-the-art direct<br />

composite restorations. You will see and do techniques that<br />

today’s superior composite materials allow us to accomplish<br />

in many challenges; they can be utilized in every dental practice.<br />

DR. PAUL BELVEDERE graduated from Loyola <strong>Dental</strong> <strong>School</strong>,<br />

Chicago, in 1955, but began teaching as a student instructor<br />

in 1954. He has been teaching Continuing Education to<br />

practicing dentists for over 30 years. He maintains an active<br />

general and cosmetic practice in Edina, MN.<br />

Dr. Belvedere helped create and is Co-Director <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Postgraduate Program in Esthetics and Contemporary<br />

Dentistry, and is an adjunct pr<strong>of</strong>essor at the University<br />

<strong>of</strong> Minnesota <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> Dentistry. He is also an Associate<br />

Pr<strong>of</strong>essor at State University <strong>of</strong> New York at Buffalo.<br />

He is on three editorial staffs and has published 32 papers,<br />

2 chapters in esthetically oriented books and teaches through a<br />

multi-media presentation. He has presented over 700 lectures<br />

as the featured lecturer to state dental societies, study groups,<br />

and dental schools. He demonstrates step-by-step techniques<br />

on closed circuit TV, teaching practical, time saving procedures.<br />

• Use <strong>of</strong> “Cosmetic Preview” for patient motivation and<br />

doctor treatment planning.<br />

• Learn to use a new anterior matrix, the Margin Perfect<br />

Matrix, to restore a peg lateral and then extensively<br />

damaged and traumatically fractured teeth.<br />

• Replacing a missing lateral with a Direct Fiber<br />

Reinforced Bridge.<br />

• A posterior matrix system for large old amalgam<br />

replacements and gain Tight Contacts.<br />

• Control Shrinkage through “Selective Polymerization.”<br />

• Using direct composite and flowables for Geriatric<br />

Problem Solving.<br />

• Creation <strong>of</strong> perfect gingival margins in all direct<br />

restorations, anterior or posterior especially Class Vs.<br />

WHAT THE WORKSHOP WILL ENTAIL<br />

• Create a “Cosmetic Preview” on the anterior teeth.<br />

• Restore a peg lateral using a circumferential matrix, the<br />

MPM. This single effort will mimic everything necessary<br />

to do Cl Vs, Cl IVs, Cl IIIs, Full Veneers.<br />

• Replace a missing lateral incisor with a Direct Fiber<br />

Reinforced Composite Bridge.<br />

This lecture/workshop consists <strong>of</strong> clinical images, step-by-step<br />

live TV demonstrations, restoring prepared teeth on specially<br />

created models. All materials and instruments will be<br />

provided. Participants will supply their magnifying eyewear.<br />

➼ This course is a must for all general dentists and<br />

their staff members, especially chair-side assistants.<br />
