The Humanitarian Aid
Department of the Swiss
Agency for Development and Cooperation
(SDC) aims to save lives and alleviate
suffering. Solidar Suisse receives financial
support as a partner in humanitarian aid and
international cooperation. The core domains
of intervention are prevention, emergency aid
and survival assistance, and reconstruction.
Solidar Suisse is member of Swiss
Solidarity, the humanitarian aid
fundraising platform of the Swiss
Media. Swiss Solidarity supports many humanitarian
aid projects of Solidar Suisse.
The European Union is one of
the world’s main humanitarian
aid donors; the Humanitarian
Aid department ECHO is the
service of the European Commission responsible
for this activity. Solidar has been an
official partner of ECHO since 2007.
SOLIDAR is a European
network of NGOs working to
advance social justice in Europe and worldwide.
Solidar Suisse, as one of 56 members,
cooperates with these partner organisations,
implementing projects in several countries.
SOLIDAR is primarily active in social affairs,
international cooperation, education and
humanitarian aid.
The Agency for Technical Cooperation
and Development (ACTED) is a NGO
with headquarters in Paris, founded in 1993.
ACTED is consortium partner of Solidar Suisse
in ECHO-funded projects in Sri Lanka.
Nachbar in Not (NiN) is the fundraising
platform of the Austrian public broadcasters
supporting humanitarian aid projects via NGO
Partners. NiN supports relief activities of
Solidar Suisse in Pakistan.
Norwegian Peoples Aid (NPA) is the
Norwsegian labour movement’s humanitarian
organisation for solidarity. As Solidar partner,
NPA co-funds the relief and rehabilitation
programme of Solidar in Pakistan. In Lebanon,
Solidar and NPA closely cooperate in the
implementation of emergency programs.
The Swiss Red Cross (SRC), a private
organisation with the purpose of protecting
the lives, health and dignity of human beings,
is member of the International Federation of
Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. SRC
and Solidar jointly steer a rehabilitation and
reconstruction project in Sri Lanka.
The Austrian Volkshilfe supports humanitarian
aid projects of SOLIDAR partners in
Lebanon and Pakistan.
Since 1947 the SLA has enjoyed
the approval of the ZEWO label.
