The Humanitarian Aid<br />

Department of the Swiss<br />

Agency for Development and Cooperation<br />

(SDC) aims to save lives and alleviate<br />

suffering. <strong>Solidar</strong> <strong>Suisse</strong> receives financial<br />

support as a partner in humanitarian aid and<br />

international cooperation. The core domains<br />

of intervention are prevention, emergency aid<br />

and survival assistance, and reconstruction.<br />

<strong>Solidar</strong> <strong>Suisse</strong> is member of Swiss<br />

<strong>Solidar</strong>ity, the humanitarian aid<br />

fundraising platform of the Swiss<br />

Media. Swiss <strong>Solidar</strong>ity supports many humanitarian<br />

aid projects of <strong>Solidar</strong> <strong>Suisse</strong>.<br />

The European Union is one of<br />

the world’s main humanitarian<br />

aid donors; the Humanitarian<br />

Aid department ECHO is the<br />

service of the European Commission responsible<br />

for this activity. <strong>Solidar</strong> has been an<br />

official partner of ECHO since 2007.<br />

SOLIDAR is a European<br />

network of NGOs working to<br />

advance social justice in Europe and worldwide.<br />

<strong>Solidar</strong> <strong>Suisse</strong>, as one of 56 members,<br />

cooperates with these partner organisations,<br />

implementing projects in several countries.<br />

SOLIDAR is primarily active in social affairs,<br />

international cooperation, education and<br />

humanitarian aid.<br />

The Agency for Technical Cooperation<br />

and Development (ACTED) is a NGO<br />

with headquarters in Paris, founded in 1993.<br />

ACTED is consortium partner of <strong>Solidar</strong> <strong>Suisse</strong><br />

in ECHO-funded projects in Sri Lanka.<br />

Nachbar in Not (NiN) is the fundraising<br />

platform of the Austrian public broadcasters<br />

supporting humanitarian aid projects via NGO<br />

Partners. NiN supports relief activities of<br />

<strong>Solidar</strong> <strong>Suisse</strong> in Pakistan.<br />

Norwegian Peoples Aid (NPA) is the<br />

Norwsegian labour movement’s humanitarian<br />

organisation for solidarity. As <strong>Solidar</strong> partner,<br />

NPA co-funds the relief and rehabilitation<br />

programme of <strong>Solidar</strong> in Pakistan. In Lebanon,<br />

<strong>Solidar</strong> and NPA closely cooperate in the<br />

implementation of emergency programs.<br />

The Swiss Red Cross (SRC), a private<br />

organisation with the purpose of protecting<br />

the lives, health and dignity of human beings,<br />

is member of the International Federation of<br />

Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. SRC<br />

and <strong>Solidar</strong> jointly steer a rehabilitation and<br />

reconstruction project in Sri Lanka.<br />

The Austrian Volkshilfe supports humanitarian<br />

aid projects of SOLIDAR partners in<br />

Lebanon and Pakistan.<br />

Since 1947 the SLA has enjoyed<br />

the approval of the ZEWO label.<br />
