This year marks Silvan’s 50 year anniversary servicing you our valued
client. We intend to continue to add value to your business for many
years to come and we thank you for your support. With this in mind,
I am delighted to advise that Silvan is expanding our infield representation
and service teams to support your business.
In response to the ever growing need for technical expertise for Silvan products,
in-field application and service, we have restructured our sales force to feature
specialised Silvan Machinery and Selecta Merchandise Account Managers
backed up by a product management team throughout the country. Therefore,
if you sell a full range of our Silvan Machinery and Selecta Merchandise, you
may well be served by a different Silvan Account Manager for these two
product ranges. This way we can provide you with deep expertise in each
field to best assist your business to sell our products.
In some parts of the country we are actively recruiting for Account Managers
with the right skills and experience to represent our business in the best
way possible. In some areas you may meet a second Silvan Account
Manager to assist your business, while in
others there will be no change to your Silvan
representation. Importantly though, you can
be assured that you can always call on our
business to provide you with the expertise
you need from Silvan.
We have also taken the opportunity with
recent changes to recruit for technically
based customer service officers. Liz Casey
has joined our customer service team in April
in the newly created role of Dealer Service
Agent.
I am also pleased to advise that copies of our
new 2012/13 Buyers Guide and Price Lists
have recently been mailed to you. These
again feature a vast amount of product
information and many products new to the
already extensive Silvan product range.

3000L TGS

Silvan proudly launched its new 3000L TGS
sprayer at the recent Mildura field days.
This product has been developed to satisfy
grower demand for a sprayer with a shorter
wheel base for headland turning and utilises
Silvan’s proven TGS spray head technology
with a twin impeller fan to optimise
spray coverage.
The response to the release was excellent
with customers impressed with the
performance of the product and the change
to a completely independent tandem
suspension axle for improved ride and
turning with several orders being placed on
the spot.

300 LITRE SELECTA 12 VOLT
SPOT & BOOM SPRAYER
Silvan Australia has launched the new 300 litre capacity Three Point Linkage
Sprayer designated as the Selecta K03A model that is designed for both boom
and spot spraying all within the one compact and convenient package.
Powered by a 12 volt, 20 litres a minute open flow pump with a regulator and
gauge, this unit is the ideal linkage mounted sprayer to suit all popular smaller
tractors or mule vehicles and will be equally useful when carried on a tractor
carryall, or a truck or ute deck.
The distinctive red slimline tank is also fixed within a long life corrosion
resistant galvanized steel carry frame with three point linkage, Category 1 pin
attachments provided.
Designed for spot or boomless spraying the unit is supplied fitted with two
Hypro boomless nozzles which enable up to ten metres of boomless spraying
at around 15 litres per minute using the two nozzles, or as a spot spraying
unit using the Spotjet spray gun.
The Hypro Boomless nozzle set up can also be attached to the rear or the end
of the steel frame and for boomless spraying it can also be configured for left
or right single sided cover.
The smaller horsepower tractor sector has shown considerable growth with
many units used by smaller acreage holders and local government or land
management agencies. Silvan Australia has responded with a compact
feature packed Selecta TPL sprayer that ideally matches the demand for a
boom or spot spraying unit.
SPARK-FREE DIESEL TRANSFER
WITH AIR-POWER PUMP
Transferring diesel fuel in many applications in the resources
industry, local government and for safe working of contractor’s
equipment often requires a spark-free safety environment.
Silvan Selecta has responded to this need with the introduction
of an Air-Power Diesel Pump which operates without the need for
electrical currents. The Air-Power Diesel Pump is a double Viton
diaphragm compressed air powered multi-purpose pump that is
compatible with a wide range of liquids or chemicals.
When used for pumping or transferring diesel it has a rated capacity
of 60 litres per minute although it can be used to pump oils, water
and the Ad Blue aqueous urea diesel fuel additive.
The Pump uses only 0.2CM per minute of compressed air at a
pressure of 8 bar, or 116 psi, and could be driven from the on-board
compressed air capacity of most mobile equipment items.
The Selecta Air-Power pump has been coupled with a 400 litre
capacity Polytuff tank that is baffled and UV Stabilised and fitted
with a full delivery system of an auto shut off gun with swivel and a
four metre length of delivery hose.
This unit not only provides the benefits of spark free diesel fuel
transfer but with the aid of a snap on hose fitting can usually be
powered from a vehicle or equipment item that already has an on
board compressed air supply.

Econopak slimline linkage
sprayer with 6 metre boom
Silvan has coupled a 6m boom to the tried and tested 300 & 400L
Slimline three point linkage sprayers to create the Econopak range.
These sprayers are fitted with a 30m hose reel and Spotjet spray
gun with adjustable nozzle to create an ideal entry level, simple and
effective sprayer.
Fitted with a 58 L/min pump and three section controls with manual
pressure regulator, the Econopak sprayers are supplied factory fitted
and tested to minimise dealer and end-user set-up time.

S.A. GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCES
SILVAN AS PREFERRED SUPPLIER
Silvan Australia is proud to announce that they have been nominated as the preferred
supplier for Agricultural and Horticultural Equipment and Machinery to the Government
of South Australia’s Department for Education and Child Development (DECD).
The objective is to facilitate the supply, delivery and installation of a range of quality
agricultural and horticultural equipment/machinery to all DECD Schools located
throughout South Australia.
Silvan spokesperson Nicola Byrne says that Silvan has “formulated strong partnerships
with seven nominated local Silvan Dealers to drive this initiative through to all State
Schools in South Australia and deliver our entire quality range of products backed by
exceptional service to the Schools for the period of three years”.
The “Trade Training in Schools Program” is one
element of the Commonwealth Governments
‘Education Revolution’ initiatives, which aims
to improve the quality of industry recognised
vocational education and training to assist in
the delivery of high quality trade training in
schools, thereby meeting the much needed skills
requirement.
Nicola Byrne announced that Silvan Australia,
together with specific dealers, is proud to partner
up with the South Australia Government in
working together to achieve this objective.

the best beer in town and when you add that to my time
working with Eastlink (no, I cannot fix your toll fines!),
it makes for an interesting career path. I have trained
staff on software programs and more recently served
John Holland Construction and Paul’s Milk in customer
service roles. With all that behind me, I just have to be a
“people person”!!

and if I have spare
time after that, it is

backyard - Bunnings

Dealer Demo Days
PATON’S SHOWS the LATEST TECHNOLOGY IN VINEYARDs & ORCHARDs
The latest innovations in vineyard and orchard spraying were presented to
thirty Mornington Peninsula vineyard and orchard owners, their managers and
industry consultants at a recent on-property demonstration day organised by
Paton’s Machinery of Mornington.
“As a machinery business we were acutely aware that there have been new
product releases which enable the timely and efficient application of all types
of spray inputs in vineyard and orchards and we thought it was opportune
to present a number of these machinery items for review under operating
conditions” Chris Tait of Paton’s Machinery says.
Two types of new sprayers manufactured by Silvan Australia were demonstrated.
The first was the new Silvan G2 Turbowrap of 2000 litres capacity. Only recently
released the Silvan G2 is considered a quantum leap in trailed spray units and
the unit features a distinctive Polytuff rotationally moulded tank with a host of
new operating and user friendly features.
These include a choice of two types of suspensions for a smooth ride regardless
of whether the tank is full or empty.
In addition numerous occupational health and safety features have been
included in what was a clean sheet product development process. The G2
has a roll out chemical induction drawer that enables the easy addition,
mixing and transfer of vineyard or orchard chemicals as powder, granulated
or liquid materials into the sprayer tank.
The Silvan Turbowrap G2 also incorporates a Central Operating Station which
allows all the operator functions to be undertaken from ground level avoiding the
risk of falls or accidents from climbing on the unit. There is also a separate 300
litre flush tank to clean the sprayer after each application as well as a 55 litre
clean water hand wash tank for operator hygiene.
Paton’s Chris Tait says that the new Silvan Turbowrap G2 has already been
adopted as the sprayer of choice by several of Australia’s major vineyard
operators and he is confident that it will meet the spray needs of many
Mornington Peninsula vineyards.
Also demonstrated was a Silvan Turbomiser P50 600 litre capacity linkage low
volume vineyard sprayer.
As a smaller capacity unit it has proven the ideal choice for boutique or smaller
sized vineyards as a tractor linkage mounted spray unit. It is particularly suited
to vineyards where there is only a tight headland space at the end of vine rows
and where there is insufficient room to turn a tractor and larger trailed sprayer.
Paton’s demonstration day also featured a new Nobili 2.1 metre working width
mulcher which has a discharge on both sides for the grass or mulched materials.
“This machine is an ideal choice for mid-row maintenance and the addition of
mulching material along both sides of each vine row” Chris Tait notes.
