2012 <strong>Awards</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Excellence</strong><br />
Engineering Action Award<br />
Tom Wingrove, P. Eng.<br />
Tom Wingrove is currently the<br />
Executive Vice President <strong>of</strong> AE-<br />
COM Environment, Canada. He<br />
has national responsibility for management,<br />
marketing and growth <strong>of</strong> AECOM’s<br />
services in the environmental discipline.<br />
In addition to his senior leadership<br />
responsibilities, he also remains involved<br />
in engineering projects and studies as<br />
a senior technical advisor and project<br />
manager. With over 38 years <strong>of</strong> experience,<br />
Tom has worked on a wide array <strong>of</strong><br />
environmental and geological projects<br />
throughout Canada.<br />
Tom is a registered engineer and<br />
member <strong>of</strong> the Association <strong>of</strong> Pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
Engineers and Geoscientists in Manitoba,<br />
Alberta, Ontario, British Columbia<br />
and the Yukon Territory.<br />
Tom is also a Past President <strong>of</strong> the<br />
Consulting Engineers <strong>of</strong> Manitoba, is on<br />
the Executive Committee for the Association<br />
<strong>of</strong> Canadian Engineering Companies,<br />
and is a Past Member <strong>of</strong> the Associate<br />
Committee on Geotechnical Research.<br />
Academic contributions have also<br />
been introduced by Tom, to include<br />
several technical papers related to cold<br />
climate engineering, groundwater issues<br />
and solid waste management. Two examples<br />
<strong>of</strong> those papers are as follows:<br />
“Field Evidence for Groundwater<br />
Flow Systems in Precambrian Terrain<br />
near Atikokan, Ontario,” proceedings <strong>of</strong><br />
the International Groundwater Symposium<br />
on Groundwater Resources<br />
Utilization and Contaminant Hydrogeology,<br />
Montreal, 1984 (with Rudolph and<br />
Farvolden).<br />
“Diesel Contamination Remediation<br />
at a Remote Site in a Cold Climate,” Practice<br />
Periodical <strong>of</strong> Hazardous, Toxic, and<br />
Radioactive Waste Management, American<br />
Society <strong>of</strong> Civil Engineers (ASCE),<br />
January 1997.<br />
Even after 38 years, Tom continues to<br />
provide mentorship to young pr<strong>of</strong>essionals<br />
and remains active in strengthening<br />
the engineering consulting industry<br />
in Manitoba and throughout Canada.<br />
He is a true asset to both AECOM and<br />
Manitoba.<br />
