Exceptional
clearance
Design of this SULKY drilling system is characterised by
the use of rigid, angled tube arms and the assembly of
Suffolk coulters on 3 rows. You benefit from 330mm
clearance between each row, which is reassuring if you
prefer close row spacing (12.5cm). Thus, on minimum
tillage systems, these sowing elements always get rid of
plant trash, stones etc. better than ordinary seed drills.
"Anti-bounce" geometry
Each sowing element has individual, adjustable pressure
depth control up to 20kg. Thanks to fitting of inclined
compression springs under constant pressure, you
benefit from an 'anti-bounce' suspension. Sheltered from
the flow of soil, the springs hold the pressure even in
difficult conditions. They also provide high vertical
clearance (325mm).
The LS 3.20 toolbar on the OPTILINE MP can be fitted with 3 rows
of Suffolk Coulters, providing a 330 mm clearance
between rows and an "anti-bounce" suspension.

• In the raised position, the SULKY “double effect”

element. This advantage is decisive with shallow
drilling (rape, grass…) and onto light soils with disc
elements, that are evidently heavier than Suffolk

establishment ? The versatility of a power harrow
associated with the new LS 2.80 toolbar are there to
ensure your results.

between power and penetration, capable of clearing straw stalks from the furrow and
keeping motricity through damp conditions.
Streamlined coulter, well receded behind the rear of the disc and reinforced with
tungsten carbide : optimum passage across plant trash, least mouvement of the

smoothness and precision
The hopper
With 750 litres or 1 050 litres depending on the model,
the OPTILINE range has a large capacity. Optional
hopper extensions bring the capacity to 1 100 litres or
to 1 650 litres, which enables you to drill even more
between refills.
When fully open, the largest hopper provides a 2.20 m
loading width, which suits all filling techniques (bags,
Big-Bags, bulk).
The V-shaped hopper cover is convenient for handling,
and has been carefully designed to keep out rain and
dust. A mechanical seed level indicator is part of the
basic features.
The metering
drive

The peg wheels are driven by a
continually rotating variator,
providing a complete range of
settings between 1.5 and 400
kg/hectare.
It guarantees outstanding
precision with small seeds
(rape) as well as large seeds
(peas).
It's driven without any wheel slip by a large diameter
landwheel (76 cm). This D.P.A. wheel can be locked in
the raised position. Thanks to the "free-wheel"
mounting, the variator is protected against accidental
reversing for example.
The OPTILINE variator can be run with the MS System,
an electric actuator device operated through an in-cab
control box (rate calibration assistance and seed rate
adjustment - see pages 12-13).
The rate calibration test
This is carried out quickly and safely in a stationary
position, with the seed drill on the ground, thanks to a
handle and an easy-to-use tray.
With just one weighing operation, it is possible to
read the correct rate setting mark directly from the
SULKY scale. Field tests in real conditions are easier
which are still recommended by SULKY for accuracy in
all conditions.

The metering
Precision and gentle seed handling
The slowly rotating agitator enables the seeds to
pass gently from the hopper to the peg wheels. Each
wheel consists of a fine-tooth wheel for small
seeds (e.g. rape) and a coarse peg wheel for
cereals, peas, beans etc.
Obturators are supplied as standard so that large
seed wheels can be closed off quickly to allow
sowing with small seeds.
Reliability and versatility
The staggered layout of the pegs on the wheel for
large seeds provides an even supply to each row.
The new self-adjusting bottom flap comes with
a series of adjustment notches and so can easily be
matched to the seed size using a convenient lever.
In its standard configuration, SULKY’s "row by row"
metering enables one row in two (or one row in 3)
to be sown, and the disengagement of a half-width,
on the left as well as on the right. It is suited to high
speed drilling operations with high rates and will
remain free of blockages at forward speeds of over
14 km/h.
Post-emergence tramlining
OPTILINE's are delivered pre-fitted for metering
disengagement (2 x 2 or 2 x 3 as an option), in
order to mark tramlines for later operations, for
tracks between 1.60m and 2.40m wide.

Pioneer of automatic tramlining, SULKY has gradually widened its range with real drilling management control
boxes, which now provide the operator an easy way to monitor his work over time.

ULTRON electronic control box : simple and complete
■ Disconnecting 4 metering wheels (2 x 2 rows, or 2 x 3 rows optional)
depending on the chosen tramlining rhythm (automatic pass counting based on
hydraulic side marker changing);
■ Alarms for the end of hopper and anomaly with the metering rotation;
■ On-screen information : forward speed, area covered (partial and total), the
STOP button enables the counter to be momentarily stopped if the driver has to
lift a marker to go around an obstacle (tree, pylon).
2 ULTRON MS electronic control box :
in addition, modulation
This box has all the same functions as the ULTRON while incorporating the
following additional functions.
■ Rate calibration assistance* : simply display on-screen the weight obtained
during the calibration test, then the required rate/ha, and the control box will
automatically position the setting marker on the variator through an electric
actuator.
■ Rate modulation* : during work, by +/- 10% stages (1), for example to
increase seed rate when approaching a more difficult area or to drill double
density plots (monitoring nitrogen deficiency on arable crops)
■ On/off rate control.
3 MEDION electronic control box :
the fundamentals
This economical box provides the main functions : automatic
tramlining, STOP button, on-screen information.

It ensures seed is covered correctly and the seedbed is
levelled ; depending on the seed type and drilling
conditions (dampness, presence of plant trash), there are
several harrow settings, both in terms of pressure as
well as angle.
Straight tines or cranked levelling tines are available as

This equipment enables toolbar pressure to be adjusted
from the cab. An initial precise setting is obtained with
the handle. During work, when crossing a more
compacted area (headlands for example), operating an
hydraulic spool (1 DA) will increase the drilling pressure
to the required amount.
Advanced side markers
The OPTILINE range has strong side markers as
standard (rigid tube arms).
These "centreline" markers leave a trace down the
centre of the tractor, making driving more accurate and
more pleasant.
They are vertically raised (SA hydraulics), and make it
easier to drill close to field borders and pass around
pylons, trees etc.
With wide-diameter discs fitted on ball bearings, they
leave a clearly visible mark.
Straight tines
Upon request, with a SULKY Cultiline power
harrow, the markers can be factory fitted onto the
harrow, leading to a further reduction in effort to raise
the drill combination.
Double security side markers : a shear bolt in the event
of a collision (passive security) and fitted on a spring tine
to cushion impacts on the marker disc (active security).
Rear pre-emergence markers
They are automatically lowered during metering
disengagement at the start of a tramlining pass.
Adjustable within a wheelbase of 1.60 m to 2.40
m, they ensure perfect adaptation to the sprayer
track of the farm.

• This fan air filter is a recommended option in difficult
working conditions: abrasive dust, unploughed fields …

This option enables the fan rpm to be kept at a steady
rate, even if the tractor PTO is disengaged or the engine
speed fluctuates. It includes a pressure gauge and
requires a single-acting hydraulic spool valve with
separate, free-flow return. (standard on OPTILINE PRO)
• Hopper extensions
They add a further 350 litres capacity (3.00m) or 600
litres (3.50 m, 4.00m and 4.50m).
Equipped with shockproof corners, there is no risk of
damage to your Big-Bags.
• Full road lighting
Depending on local regulations, this equipment allows
you to blend in with local road traffic in full safety.
Specific options
for the OPTILINE PRO
Levelling tines soil preparation
module (optional)
Interesting at the start of the season on previously
prepared soils, it replaces the power harrow. This set-up
makes best use of available horsepower that can be seen
by high forward speeds averaging over 15 km/h.
Link between toolbar and roller
This standard option guarantees that the drilling
elements are maintained at the correct depth
independent of tine wear on the soil preparation
implement. There is a choice between a versatile "large
diameter" Packer roller and a Farmflex® roller.
Solo fitting kit
This kit allows you to work the OPTILINE PRO alone,
without any soil preparation implement, transfering
weight onto the roller (roller not included in fitting kit).
Beneficial features
• Ultra robust heavy-duty double frame: 100 mm
square tube frame and strengthened levelling tine
support frame
• Pin-adjusted levelling tine angle
• Hydraulic depth adjustment (including complete
withdrawal if faced with a mass of plant trash) via
"single acting" rams with a working range of

SULKY automatic coupling also has a protection
casing for the OPTILINE MP's fan drive.
Link between toolbar
and Packer roller (1)
Thanks to this type of link, OPTILINE MP seed drills
offer a constant drilling depth that is unmoved by the
progressive wear of the power harrow tines. You also
benefit from optimum positioning of the sowing
elements during the entire sowing operation.
Setting links by parallelograms
These adjustments enable the overhang of the machine
to be even more reduced, especially if the cultivation
implement is equipped with a large diameter roller.
