WONDERFUL WINTER ISSUE<br />
BRACES...THEY’RE NOT JUST<br />
FOR KIDS ANYMORE!<br />
More and more adults are taking the step into orthodontic<br />
treatment. Technology is improving rapidly and<br />
there are many new types of treatment.<br />
Everyone has seen the articles and ads for<br />
“Invisalign”. It is a revolutionary new treatment<br />
that’s virtually invisible. Patients wear a series of<br />
clear aligners, like clear retainers that move the teeth gradually.<br />
These are comfortable to wear and removable, so that you can<br />
easily eat, brush, and floss. These aligners are worn for 3 weeks<br />
at a time until treatment is completed..<br />
Clear brackets are another option. Treatment is much like<br />
traditional braces except that the top 6 teeth have “clear” or ceramic-like<br />
brackets. Tied with clear rubber bands, these are virtually<br />
undetectable. Smoking, tea, coffee, red wine, and tomato<br />
sauce are some of the things that could stain the elastic ties and<br />
make brackets appear dull.<br />
Anchoring screws or implants are available now. Placed by<br />
an oral surgeon these teeny screws are implanted into the bone<br />
and are used as anchors. Wires are tied to them. This drastically<br />
shortens treatment time.<br />
IT’S NEVER TOO LATE TO HAVE<br />
THE SMILE YOU’VE ALWAYS WANTED!<br />
Do we need a referral from our dentist<br />
to make an appointment? Many times we<br />
are asked if you need a referral from a dentist to<br />
visit the orthodontist. The answer is no.<br />
If you think your child or a friend may need orthodontic care or<br />
if you just would like a free consultation, please make an appointment<br />
with us. The American Association of Orthodontists<br />
recommends children be seen at age 7.
Retainer Prices Update<br />
How much is a retainer? If you lose, step on, or let<br />
your dog eat your retainer at anytime, there will be a<br />
charge to replace it. To replace a lost, broken, or<br />
worn out retainer can be anywhere between $105 and<br />
$185. Retainers are guaranteed for the first 3 months<br />
from normal wear and tear. The charge to reattach a<br />
permanent lower retainer after the first 3 months is<br />
$45.<br />
Permanent lower retainers are able to be worn for<br />
years. It is important to brush and floss that area in<br />
particular to keep your teeth and gums healthy.<br />

I work, why can’t my child have<br />
a late appointment?<br />
Ah, this is an age old question not just at ROG but in every<br />
orthodontic practice due to the nature of our business. Unfortunately<br />
there aren’t unlimited after school hours. Our doctors<br />
schedule longer appointments during the school day so that we<br />
can see the maximum number of patients after school hours. We<br />
try very hard to accommodate everyone. We truly appreciate<br />
you working with us on this matter to be fair to everyone.<br />
We are the only practice in the area offering to pick your<br />
child up at school for appointments! The Smiles in Motion is<br />
available for a mere $100 for the lifetime of your child’s orthodontic<br />
treatment.<br />

1 c. leftover chicken cut-up<br />
1 c. leftover rice<br />
2 cans chicken broth<br />
1 can diced tomatoes with onion<br />
1 can black beans rinsed<br />
1 small can drained corn<br />
1 t. chili powder<br />
1 t. taco seasoning<br />
Salt and pepper to taste.<br />
Simmer together till flavors blend.<br />
Sprinkle with your favorite cheese.<br />
Experiment! Substitute, beef and<br />
pasta for chicken and rice!<br />

you should cancel your child’s appointment in<br />
case of illness? If your child has a fever or is<br />
in the contagious stage of an illness or if you<br />
even suspect it, it is better to reschedule the appointment.<br />
