CANNED FOOD DRIVE
Please join us in helping the needy in our area.
Bring in a non perishable, non-expired food
item, for example tuna, soups, peanut butter,
vegetables. A container will be placed in our
vestibule from now until April 30th. These contributions
will be taken to the Kennedy House,
a soup kitchen located at 532
Spruce Street, Reading.
Donations will be accepted
during regular office hours.
Let’s all join together to make
this drive a success!
“Let it snow, let it
snow, let it snow…”.
Not sure what to do when a
storm hits and you have an orthodontic
appointment We will understand
if you need to cancel due to
weather. If you are unsure, please call especially if your appointment
is at the end of a snowy day, we may be trying to reach
you to reschedule your appointment.
APPOINTMENT POLICY
Orthodontic scheduling is a
tough job because of a predominately
school-aged patient
population. Our most sought
after appointments are those
we call “Prime Time” or any
time after 3:00 p.m. In fairness
to ALL of our patients
requesting “Prime Time” these
visits are alternated with nonprime
time appointments. We
are aware of the complications
of busy lives; students’ academic
needs and parents’ work
schedules and we thank all of
our patients for their cooperation
when scheduling visits.
BLUE JEANS FOR BABIES
Perhaps you have heard of the annual “Blue
Jeans for Babies” campaign This is a fundraiser
initiated by the March of Dimes to help babies
with birth defects. We are happy to report
that 23 ROG employees participated by donating
$5 each to the cause. In return employees
were entitled to wear blue jeans to work that day
and were invited to a reception at the Sheraton
Hotel hosted by the March of Dimes.

Often times when you call
to make or reschedule your appointment,
that of Kay. Kay has been with Reading Orthodontic Group since
September of 1991.
Kay keeps busy at home caring for her husband Jeff, children
At the Reading Orthodontic Group
oral hygiene is a very important part
of your treatment.
That’s why we provide a
complimentary Sonicare electric toothbrush
to every patient when braces are placed.
ORAL HYGIENE WINNER!
The doctors and staff at Reading Orthodontic
Group try to help our patients improve
their oral hygiene. Because children,
and sometimes adults, too, need constant
encouragement, we have an ongoing contest to provide
incentive.
Patients who earn a “5” on our 1-5 grading
system get a ticket. Every three months one
winning ticket is pulled from the contest jar. The
winner gets to choose from some fabulous prizes!
Well wonder no more! Bring them
Candy Buy-Back !!!
Many thanks to everyone who helped
make our first Candy Buy Back a huge success.
We collected a whopping 273 lbs, 6 oz of Halloween
candy from 42 participants !!!
There were no individual prizes but that
certainly didn’t stop the enthusiasm of some
Trick or Treaters. David Richardson donated
over 15 lbs of candy.
We were thrilled with the Win/Win/Win
event for our patients, brace busters and The
Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and hope to make
this an annual event at Reading Orthodontic
Group.
It’s raining MAGAZINES!!!!!
Did you ever wonder….
What about wisdom teeth and why
they often need to be extracted
Wisdom teeth or third molars
erupt when there is adequate space,
between the ages of 15 and 25. The
shape of the modern human mouth
is often too small to accommodate
third molars. Third molar impactions
are the most prevalent medical
developmental disorder.
Partially erupted or impacted wisdom
teeth are breeding grounds for bacteria which
can cause infection. This can be accompanied
by pain, swelling, gum or periodontal disease.
Cysts can also develop around impacted third
molars.
Although not all third molars need to be
extracted, removal is generally advised when
there is inadequate room for eruption or in an
unacceptable position jeopardizing second
molars. Your general dentist or orthodontist
can advise you as to the need for extraction.
Happy Valentine’s Day…..

Creating Fantastic Smiles is what we do!
This 9-year-old boy came to us with a large opening between his upper and lower
teeth when biting down. He also has lower crowding. He wore braces for only 11
months. The openbite is corrected and the crowding eliminated. He may need a
second phase of treatment when his permanent teeth erupt.
This 8-year-old girl came to us with a deep overlap of upper and lower front teeth called a
severe deep bite, along with moderate lower crowding. She wore braces for 18 months. The
overbite is corrected and the crowding has been alleviated . Extractions of adult teeth has
been avoided. A second phase of treatment may be needed as permanent teeth erupt.
